Academics, activists urge all Syrians to participate in shaping the country's future

Academics and activists answered questions about the role assigned to them as Syrian men and women to rebuild Syria, with the participation of all segments of the Syrian people.

"Participatory Visions"

The Director of Operations at the National Construction Movement, Taima Issa, expressed her happiness at allowing them the opportunity to meet with Syrian men and women from various political forces to discuss, in many sessions, the future of the scenarios that the country will encounter in the future and to work on favoring the best of them for the public interest.

Regarding the vision she hopes for the future of Syria, Taima said that it is a "participatory vision" in which "authority and oversight roles are distributed, capable of building and producing, and that the euphoria of victory is accompanied by diligent work, to complete the revolution that entered another phase with the fall of the Ba'ath regime."

Taima called on her name and on behalf of the movement she represents, all civil activists, journalists and human rights activists to work on filling the civil and political vacuum by presenting a balanced, healthy and moderate discourse that accommodates all Syrians under the framework of the "comprehensive Syrian identity" to restore the ability to build the country again.

"A clear and transparent constitution"

While the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Ebla University, Dr. Sabri Hassan, indicated that what is required at this sensitive stage is to forget the past and expand thinking to put the future on the agenda of the Syrians and provide all their requirements, most importantly security, to compensate them for the years of tyranny they have gone through.

Dr. Sabri also called on all political parties and components to work on making concessions to accelerate the establishment of a common ground to reduce differences, in order to favor the issue of Syrian unity.

While he believed that the next administration in Syria should be comprehensive, guaranteeing the rights and interests of all, and have a clear and transparent constitution, and enact "sovereign laws" as a priority to reach a civil state in which everyone lives without excluding any party.

Demands for women's representation in any new government

Feminist civil activist Hala Marouki looks forward to continuing the dialogues on the level of participation of all Syrians to avoid old mistakes, and tip the scales towards unifying Syrians with all their components without excluding any party.

Regarding the role of women, Hala stressed the necessity of women's representation in any new government, and said: "The Syrian woman is great, and the days and experiences have proven that she has the ability to advance the country in light of crises."

In response to the question of what is required of the Syrian elite, the activist stressed, saying: "Everyone must engage in dialogue to come up with a working paper that has a constructive essence, to reach a vision that suits all Syrians, and is a starting point for a prosperous and bright future."
