AANES condemns Turkish massacre in Kobani countryside, demands accountability
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has condemned the massacre committed by the Turkish occupation in the countryside of Kobani, which claimed the lives of nine martyrs from a single family, including seven children and a woman, and injured two other members of the same family. It called for "an international investigation into this incident and for the cases of massacres and war crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state to be referred to the International Criminal Court."

Today, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement to the public on its official website, condemning the massacre committed by the Turkish occupation in the countryside of Kobani. The statement reads as follows:
"The Turkish occupation state continues its hostile policies and the commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity against the people of North and East Syria, disregarding all international laws and divine principles.
Last night, continuing these criminal policies, the Turkish occupation state committed a massacre against the residents of the village of Barkh Botan in the southern countryside of Kobani, resulting in the martyrdom of nine civilians, most of whom were women and children, in addition to injuring others.
The Barkh Botan massacre is not the first massacre committed by the Turkish war machine against the region of North and East Syria and its people, under the eyes of international organizations and the international community, without any action being taken. The silence of the international community and human rights organizations encourages the Turkish occupation to commit more war crimes in the region.
We, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, while condemning the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state against our areas and our people, call on the international community in all its institutions, as well as the international coalition against ISIS, to clarify their stance on these massacres and break their silence. This people has sacrificed its children to fight global terrorism represented by ISIS on behalf of the entire world.
We also demand an international investigation into this matter and that the cases of massacres and war crimes committed by the Turkish occupation state be referred to the International Criminal Court.
We extend our deepest condolences to the families and relatives of our martyrs and to our people in general. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and affirm to our people that we will continue to demand our rights from the Turkish state for the massacres and war crimes it has committed. We also affirm that such practices will not deter us from continuing our path toward building a free, decentralized, and democratic Syria."
