€900,000 sent to Afrin and Shahba IDPs

On November 29, 2024, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries launched attacks on the Shahba region and the city of Tal Rifaat. As a result of these attacks, hundreds of thousands of people who were forcibly displaced during the occupation of Afrin in 2018 were forced to move for the second time.

More than 200,000 forcibly displaced people were relocated to safe areas with the help of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The Autonomous Administration issued urgent appeals to international institutions and organizations. Additionally, the Kurdish Red Crescent, headquartered in Europe, launched an emergency aid campaign on December 3, 2024, to support the displaced.

According to information released by the Kurdish Red Crescent, €900,000 was collected within 45 days. The funds have been sent to Rojava via the Kurdish Red Crescent for distribution to the displaced. The Kurdish Red Crescent stated that the needs of tens of thousands of refugees are being met through donations from Kurds abroad and their friends, especially under harsh winter conditions.

The organization affirmed that their campaign will continue and called on everyone to join the effort.
