9 civilians, including couple, abducted in occupied Afrin

The Afrin-Syria Human Rights Organization reported that Turkish occupation mercenaries, "Military Police," abducted the married couple, Judat Kanjo Kanjo (35) and Jihan Bakr Allou (30), from the town of Jalmah in Jindires city, on October 2, 2024, at the request of Turkish intelligence. The husband was transferred to a prison in Azaz, while the wife was sent to the notorious prison in Al-Ra’i-Al-Bab. They were detained at a checkpoint near the village of Qatma in Sharra, Afrin, which is the first checkpoint on the road leading to the Azaz area.

The organization mentioned that Judat had traveled to Aleppo three months prior to his abduction to marry his fiancée. However, he was forced to return to his village with her after threats from "Faylaq al-Sham" mercenaries to seize his house and property. The couple was abducted on their way back before reaching their village.

Additionally, Turkish Border Guards (Gendarmerie) in Bulbula district abducted citizens on Friday: Ribar Hassan Rashid (34), from the village of Kakhra in Mobata district; Mustafa Ahmad Ahmad (42) and Anwar Mohammad Ali (40) from Badina town in Rajo district; and four others from Aleppo city. These individuals were detained while attempting to cross into Turkish territory. According to the organization, the abductors demanded ransom money from their families for their release.

Furthermore, Turkish occupation mercenaries, "Al-Amshat" and "Al-Hamzat," cut down 25 olive trees and 8 cypress trees owned by Nidal Ali Ahmad from the village of Qara Tapa in Sharra district. The field is located near the Afrin River, behind the Jin Wedding Hall in the Ashrafieh neighborhood in central Afrin. They also cut down seven olive trees belonging to Khalil Hassou near the Terfiq Road east of the neighborhood.

These incidents represent just a fraction of the ongoing crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against people, property, and nature in occupied Afrin. Such acts aim to tighten the noose around the local population and forcibly displace them from their land, in blatant violation of all international laws.
