886 civilians killed by explosive remnants of war in Syria since December 8, 2024

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights SOHR has documented the deaths of 886 civilians, including 283 children, from landmines and explosive remnants of war in Syria since December 8, 2024, calling for accelerated clearance and awareness campaigns.

The number of civilians killed by landmines and explosive remnants of war across Syria since December 8, 2024, has reached 886, including 548 men, 283 children, and 55 women.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 80 deaths were recorded between December 8, 2024, and the end of that year, while the toll rose to 599 civilians, including 192 children, during 2025. From the beginning of 2026 until today, 207 civilians have been killed, including 79 children.

The Observatory noted that landmines and unexploded ordnance remain scattered throughout agricultural lands, villages, towns, and around homes and former military sites, posing a constant threat to residents, especially children and those returning to their areas.
