Tirbespiyê Municipality: road rehabilitation tops priorities for next phase despite limited resources

Over the past period, the People's Municipality in the city of Tirbespiyê, located in al- Jazira Region, has carried out several service projects, including the rehabilitation of sewage networks in a number of neighborhoods, the continuation of sanitation campaigns throughout the city and its affiliated towns, as well as the grading and leveling of several internal roads.

The city has also witnessed projects implemented in cooperation with local residents within the framework of communal work, including the repair of sewage networks and the planting of approximately 200 trees at the city's entrance. In addition, the municipality is preparing to launch a new project to construct stormwater drainage systems and rainwater collection facilities.

In this context, Wahid Ali, Co-Chair of the People's Municipality in Tirbespiyê, explained that the municipality has developed a plan to implement a series of service projects during the current year, noting that the city's needs exceed the financial resources currently available.

Wahid Ali stated that the municipality had requested an allocation of approximately US$1.4 million to implement its service projects. However, only US$300,000 was approved, forcing the municipality to reassess its priorities and focus on the most urgent projects.

He added that the municipality has completed all necessary preparations for its road rehabilitation projects, noting that work will begin soon on repairing the main road, in addition to implementing road rehabilitation projects in the neighborhoods of Martyr Gamkin, Martyr Hikmat, and Martyr Lawand, while continuing daily sanitation campaigns throughout the city's streets.

He emphasized that the road rehabilitation and maintenance project will serve as the cornerstone of the municipality's work during the coming phase by repairing major roads and secondary streets that have suffered significant damage, thereby improving mobility and transportation for residents throughout the city.

Wahid Ali also pointed out that communal work and cooperation between residents and the municipality have contributed to the successful implementation of several service projects. He noted that a sewage network extending approximately three kilometers was recently completed in the Martyr Gamkin neighborhood through joint efforts.

The Co-Chair of the People's Municipality concluded by calling on residents to cooperate with the municipality in maintaining the cleanliness of the city and supporting public service projects. He also confirmed that the municipality is working to allocate a site for the construction of a sports stadium for the residents of Tirbespiyê in the near future.
