The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced on Sunday the killing of three of its personnel and the injury of four others following the explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by ISIS mercenaries in the Al-Hadar desert, southwest of Nineveh city.

In a statement, the agency said the explosion occurred while one of its units was carrying out search and sweep operations in the area. The wounded were transferred to the nearest medical facility to receive treatment.

The statement also stressed the continuation of security operations aimed at pursuing what it described as the “remnants of terrorist organizations” in desert and remote areas, emphasizing ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability and prevent the resurgence of ISIS mercenaries activity.
