4 women executed within three days in Iran

The Iranian state authorities carried out the death sentence against 4 women within three days during the month of December of last year, thus increasing the number of women who were executed in 2023 to 25 women.

According to the reports of the “Iranian Women’s Council” institutions, the Iranian authorities continue to implement death sentences against citizens with the aim of intimidating them and deterring them from carrying out protest actions against the government, in which the lion’s share is claimed by national minorities, political opponents, and women.

According to the same reports, the rate of execution of death sentences this year compared to 2022 increased by 43 percent in the period between October and the second of 2023, as the authorities executed more than 200 people during this period, and about 850 people were executed in Iranian state prisons. Among them (15 political figures and 25 women).

The number of women who have been executed since 2007 until now has reached 228 women in Iran.

In a related context, statistics revealed by media outlets in eastern Kurdistan that 122 women were killed during the year 2023.

on Tuesday (January 2), a woman in Ilam Governorate, eastern Kurdistan, was killed by her brother, according to Roj News Agency.

The agency said that the perpetrator surrendered himself to the authorities after killing his sister.
