3 killed in Hama, Deir ez-Zor due to war remnants explosion

Today, Monday, three people, including a woman, were killed in Hama and Deir ez-Zor as a result of landmine and explosive remnants of war.

In the Al-Ghab Plain in rural Hama, two people were killed in separate explosions: the first occurred in the village of Al-Hakoura, and the second in the village of Al-Huweija when one of the victims was lighting a fire near his home.

In Deir ez-Zor, a woman from the Al-Houmida in the town of Al-Harri, Al-Bukamal countryside was killed when a landmine from war remnants exploded in the desert.

These repeated incidents highlight the ongoing danger that war remnants pose to civilians in affected areas.

According to the Syrian Observatory, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on 8 December 2024 until today, 595 civilians have been killed due to explosions caused by war remnants, including 163 children and 41 women. Additionally, 637 others have been injured, including 25 children and 17 women. The distribution is as follows:

- Damascus Government-held areas: 460 people killed, including 26 women and 117 children. Among these, 8 were killed while collecting truffles, including a woman and a child. 460 others were injured, including 191 children and 7 women, and 6 more, including 3 children, were injured while collecting truffles.

- The Autonomous Administration areas: 40 people killed, including 19 children and 4 women. 66 others were injured, including 45 children and 2 women.

-Areas controlled by Turkish-backed mercenaries (National Army): 95 people killed, including 27 children and 11 women. 111 others were injured, including 40 children and 8 women.
