25 killed over security chaos in Daraa

SOHR stated that during the month of December, Daraa witnessed 26 operations that fell within the widespread security chaos in Daraa, which led to the killing of 25 people, most of them citizens.

While the total number of attacks in Daraa since the beginning of the year reached 491 incidents of security chaos, all of which took place in different ways and methods, and caused the death of 394 people.

These numbers indicate the extent of the failure of the Damascus government to control the security situation in the region, especially since it conducted two “settlement” operations in Daraa, the first in 2018 and the second in 2021.

Observers believe that the Damascus government is playing a negative role by insisting on resolving the Syrian crisis in accordance with its mentality and behavior, exploiting the deteriorating situation of the people of Syria, and that the Damascus government’s ignoring of the situation and popular discontent at home may lead to the eruption of the situation, the features of which have begun to become clear with the passage of more than 4 months since the protests of Suwayda, which demands a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
