240 Iraqi families repatriated from al-Hol camp

As part of a coordinated effort between the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Iraqi Parliament’s Security Committee and Migration and Displaced Persons Committee, a new group of Iraqi families residing in al-Hol Camp in Hasakah’s countryside was deported today.

The new group included 240 families, totaling approximately 858 individuals. The journey to Iraqi territory was conducted under tight security provided by the Internal Security Forces of the North and East Syria region.

This marks the 14th trip for Iraqis leaving the camp since the beginning of this year, and the 31st trip overall since the start of repatriating Iraqi families from al-Hol Camp to their homeland.

Since 2021, the Democratic Autonomous Administration has been organizing trips for Iraqi residents of al-Hol Camp wishing to return to their homes, in coordination with the Iraqi government and the International Coalition to Combat ISIS.

Al-Hol Camp hosts tens of thousands of women and children of ISIS fighters, of both Arab and foreign nationalities, making it a ticking time bomb and a repeated source of warnings regarding the threat they pose to local and international security.
