18 firefighting vehicles depart NE Syria toward Syrian coast

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has dispatched a support convoy consisting of 150 trained firefighting personnel, 18 fire trucks, engineering equipment, and machinery toward the Syrian coast to aid in extinguishing the massive wildfires that have been raging there for the past seven days.

As part of a humanitarian and national solidarity initiative to confront disasters and protect the population and the environment, the support convoy, organized by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, set out this morning toward the coastal regions.

The convoy includes 150 members of firefighting teams trained in handling large-scale fires, as well as 18 fire trucks sent from the Euphrates, Jazira, Tabqa, and Raqqa cantons.

Accompanying the convoy are two ambulances with medical crews, two fuel tankers, two bulldozers, and several service vehicles equipped with essential engineering tools for firefighting and logistical support.

It is worth noting that the coastal areas have been experiencing a wave of massive wildfires since July 3, which have so far consumed more than 14,000 hectares of vegetation. This has prompted intensified local and regional efforts to contain the flames and safeguard the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents.

The participation of firefighting teams from North and East Syria reflects the humanitarian and national commitment of the Autonomous Administration in times of crisis. This role has previously emerged during natural disasters such as earthquakes and past coastal emergencies, and is now being reaffirmed amid the ongoing wildfires that have displaced thousands of citizens.
