Autonomous Administration informs Belgian Parliament about Turkish attacks

The representative of the Autonomous Administration in Europe, Abd al-Karim Omar, and the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration’s representation in Benelux, Hozan Ahmed, held a meeting with the member of the Belgian Parliament, Kon Metso, yesterday, in the Parliament building in the capital, Brussels.

During the meeting, Abd al-Karim Omar touched on the indiscriminate attacks launched by the Turkish occupation on various areas in NE Syria, and pointed out that they mainly target vital facilities and infrastructure, such as oil and gas stations, electric power generation, and others.

Omar confirmed that the attacks carried out by Turkish drones caused the loss of many civilians' lives, and also caused significant material damage to the infrastructure, causing many water and electricity stations to be out of service.

The representative of the AANES in Europe referred to the allegations promoted by Turkey to justify its aggression, and said that they are: "weak and baseless lies, as the Autonomous Administration has never posed any threat to Turkey, but rather we have always been open to dialogue with all parties in order to reach a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.

For his part, Belgian parliamentarian Kon Metso confirmed that they are following with deep concern the recent Turkish escalation in the Autonomous Administration areas, and are calling for a halt to all attacks and military operations and for the language of dialogue to be preferred in resolving problems and disputes.

Metso stressed that the military escalation would hinder efforts for a peaceful political solution in the country, and added that targeting the Autonomous Administration areas threatens the security and stability, and this would affect the Autonomous Administration’s efforts in the field of combating “terrorism” and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

The Belgian parliamentarian also stressed the need for the international community to take action to prevent the escalation of the conflict in NE Syria, noting in this context the responsibility of the international Bodies guaranteeing the ceasefire, and the importance of taking action in accordance with their obligations included in the relevant agreements.
