Yazidi young woman handed over to Şengal Resistance Units

On September 19, the Women's Protection Units liberated the young Yazidi woman, Ferial Khader Ibrahim, from ISIS mercenaries.

Ferial Khader Ibrahim was a 12-year-old girl kidnapped by ISIS mercenaries in Şengal district.

The handover of the young woman, Ferial Ibrahim, took place through a ceremony at the headquarters of the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the city of Hasaka, amidst presence a delegation from the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), headed by the YPJ’s spokeswoman, Roxan Muhammad, and the co-chair of the Yazidi House in the Jazera region, Laila Ibrahim, and a delegation from the Şengal Resistance Units, headed by Commander in the units, Omar Shankali.

During the handover process, the spokeswoman for the Women's Protection Units, Roxan Muhammad, spoke to the media and referred to the genocide that the Yazidi people were subjected to, saying: "Ferial is not the first and will not be the last to taste the woes at the hands of ISIS mercenaries."

She explained by saying: "Despite all the killing, extermination and massacres that the Yazidi people were subjected to, they remained committed to their principles and religion and did not accept persecution and resisted ISIS mercenaries."

She stressed, "With resistance and solidarity, we will foil all mercenary plans, and we pledge to all Yazidi women to liberate them from ISIS mercenaries and defend their rights."

For his part, the leader of the Şengal Resistance Units, Omar Shinkali, thanked the Women’s Protection Units for their noble efforts in liberating Yazidi women from ISIS mercenaries since 2014.

He stressed, "What happened in 2014 in Şengal will not be repeated again, because we will confront any aggression against us."

For her part, the co-chair of the Yazidi House in the Jazera region, Laila Ibrahim, praised the role of the Women’s Protection Units in liberating the Yazidi women.

Then, Ferial handed over to the Şengal Resistance Units delegation to deliver her to her family.
