Jordanian Foreign Minister: Drug smuggling from Syria has increased

Amman regularly announces the seizure of quantities of Captagon and various types of drugs coming from Syrian territory.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi revealed that smuggling operations across the Syrian-Jordanian border increased following the dialogue with the Damascus government, noting that out of 3 drug smuggling attempts, one succeeds, according to the Jordanian Ammon Agency.

He said: "Jordan is working to protect its interests," stressing that "drug smuggling is not only a threat to Jordan, but also to the Gulf states and other countries, and cooperation must be strengthened to deal with the threat".

Al-Safadi added, "Smuggling operations have increased on the ground after the dialogue held with Damascus," pointing out that "Damascus does not control when it comes to the ability to fully extend its control".

Jordan regularly announces the seizure of quantities of Captagon and various types of drugs, and the Jordanian army also announces from time to time the thwarting of attempts to smuggle drugs from Syrian territory.
