K. Star: “Jin Jiyan Azadî” revolution is uprising for all of us

Today, the Kongra Star Council in North and East Syria issued a written statement on the occasion of the first anniversary of the killing of the young Kurdish woman, Gina Amini, and the Rojhalat Uprising (eastern Kurdistan), which stated:

“From the field of the women’s revolution in NE Syria, we salute the struggle of women and all the people who have been in the field in Rojhelat Kurdistan and Iran, for a year and have been rising up against oppression and violence.

One year has passed since the uprising, as all the people of Iran and the people of Kurdistan are rising up against the authoritarian regime in Iran, and the patriarchal system.

The Kurdish woman Gina Amini's murder case became a spark that ignited the fire of the people's anger and discontent and turned it into a demand for freedom.

In Gina Amini’s ceremony, the call to the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom”, ‘JIN JIYAN AZADI’, which is the slogan of the women’s movement in Kurdistan and in the Rojava revolution.

In general, we see women as leaders waving all the colors of resistance, organizing events and activities with courage, anger and creativity. They call on the people to rise up. Through these activities and events, they give courage and morale to all freedom-loving peoples in the regions of Kurdistan and Baluchestan, Iran, Kurdistan and the whole world.

For more than forty years, the Iranian regime has been oppressing the people and rejecting any change or transformation, so it attacks the people’s uprisings with extreme violence. History has proven that reform is not a solution, because this system is based on the oppression of women and society, with the start of the uprising and until now, hundreds of people have been killed by Iranian forces, an unknown number have been injured, thousands have been arrested, and hundreds have been executed.

Furthermore, Female students were systematically poisoned in schools. The fires broke out in Evin Prison, known as a prison for political detainees and a place of torture, to this day, the Iranian regime violently attacks the people.

Women leading this uprising are being specifically targeted, arrested and killed, as they attempt to silence women, as was the arrest of the journalist who covered the ceremony, Gina Amini. Despite all kinds of pressures and attacks, the people resist with all determination and courage and shake the throne and foundations of the regime. The main demand of the people was "the freedom of women." The people of Iran and Kurdistan, especially women, reject the authoritarian regime in Iran, and with the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom,” “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” shakes the throne of the tyrannical regime. As the leader Abdullah Ocalan, said: “Society will not be liberated until women are liberated."

The slogan "Women, Life, Freedom", "'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî", which was inspired by the leader's philosophy, has a long history, allowing this philosophy to be a companion in women's struggle to build a free society.

 On May 9, 2010, the martyr Shirin Alamholi wrote on the wall of her cell in Evin Prison with three of her friends, the slogan “Women, Life, Freedom,” “Jin Jiyan Azadî.” In the spirit of resistance, the martyr Shirin and her companions now launched a revolution with the same slogan and demands.

The regime is trying to intimidate people by force, and is trying to silence people by shutting down Internet networks and preventing people from supporting the uprising. To this day, the regime inflicts oppression and injustice on the Iranian people at the highest levels. But the people's sacrifices, courage, and resistance had a great impact, and everyone must see it, listen to it, and struggle alongside this people.

We call on all organized women and those who yearn for freedom to support and raise the pace of the people’s struggle against the Iranian regime. On this basis, we condole all the families of the struggling friends who martyred in the uprising.

We congratulate the first anniversary of the uprising and renew our pledge to make the twenty-first century the century of the women’s revolution.
