SDF:11 mercenaries, 10 drug dealers arrested

So far, the Syrian Democratic Forces have managed to arrest 11 mercenaries from ISIS cells, 10 drug dealers, and eliminate 3 attackers on the fourth day of "Security Enhancement" Operation.

The operation launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces continues in the countryside of Deir al-Zor, entering its 4th day, amid confirmation from the forces' Media Center that the operation is proceeding according to plan.

On August 27, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the launch of Operation "security enhancement" in the eastern bank of the Euphrates River in the countryside of Deir al-Zor, in cooperation with the International Coalition Forces; Based on the invitations of the notables of the clans and the people of the region.

SDF stated: "Due to ISIS terrorist acts targeting innocent civilians, and security personnel in the Deir al-Zor area, and following the continuous efforts between the general command of our SDF forces, tribal leaders, and community dignitaries, especially recent meetings that have yielded recommendations and calls to urgently pursue ISIS terrorist cells and eliminate their sources our forces supported by the international coalition forces have launched this operation."

The operation began on 3 main axes, the first targeted the northern countryside of Deir al-Zor, starting from the area of Sour to the Euphrates River up to the Seven Kilo, and the second targeted the eastern countryside, starting from the areas linked to the town of Al-Busayrah, all the way to the Syrian-Iraqi border at the town of Al-Baghouz, and the third targeted the western countryside of Deir al-Zor Starting from the Maamel roundabout to the administrative areas of Raqqa.

On the first day, the Syrian Democratic Forces completed their operation in the third axis, "the western countryside of Deir al-Zor", where the SDF managed to arrest 5 ISIS mercenaries and 8 drug dealers in the area and eliminate 3 gunmen who attacked their forces.

On its second day, the SDF focused on the northern and eastern countryside of Deir al-Zor, in addition to expanding its operations against targets in those areas, targeting “criminal elements after the operations forces were attacked to hold accountable all those involved in the drug trade and committing injustices against civilians.”

During the second day, specifically in the first axis "the northern countryside of Deir al-Zor", the forces arrested three ISIS mercenaries on the Ezba-Koniko road while they were trying to flee, they also arrested two drug dealers and seized a quantity of narcotic materials in their possession .

For the third day, SDF's forces continue the operation targeting ISIS cells, criminal elements, and drug traffickers, where the operation forces were subjected to an armed attack in the town of Saada, north of Deir al-Zor, which led to the martyrdom of a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces and a woman, and wounding number of passers-by.

In response to the attack, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to arrest three ISIS mercenaries, including a leader.

The attack that targeted the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the criminal elements causing some chaos in the villages of the eastern and northern countryside of Deir al-Zor, which was represented in closing some civil institutions, blocking roads, and inciting to attack the Syrian Democratic Forces, prompted the Syrian Democratic Forces to take stricter and stronger measures to achieve the goals of the operation.

SDF said, "The forces of the "Security Enhancement" operation deal firmly with criminal acts, sniper actions, and imposing closures on official service institutions carried out by wanted elements involved in drug trafficking and benefiting from smuggling in the town of Al-Izba in the northern countryside of Deir al-Zor, where our forces confirm the performance of their tasks by confronting any attempts to obstruct the security operation until they achieve their goals in eliminating ISIS cells and arresting those involved in criminal operations.

Today, the operation continues on its fourth day, within the first two axes "the northern countryside" and in some parts within the second axe "the eastern countryside", amid the participating fighters' assurance to ANHA agency on the continuation of the operation and the expansion of its objectives, specifically in the northern countryside of Deir al-Zor.

Regarding the latest figures on the operation, the number of those arrested reached 11 mercenaries from ISIS cells, 10 drug dealers, and the elimination of 3 attackers.

Worth to note that life has gradually returned to normal in the western countryside of Deir al-Zor, as well as in large parts of the eastern countryside, after the completion of the operation and the achievement of its objectives.
