American official describes her country's position on demographic change as evading the truth

The head of the secretariat of the International Commission for Freedom of Religion and researcher at the American Wilson Center, Nadine Maenza, criticized the statement of the US State Department denying any demographic change in occupied Afrin, and indicated that the United States of America prefers its interests at the expense of speaking the truth towards what happens in North and East Syria.

Nadine Maenza's statements came during a special interview with ANHA's agency, regarding the continuation of the Turkish occupation army's attacks on the regions of North and East Syria, and its continuation, along with its mercenaries, of demographic change operations in the occupied regions.

Nadine Maenza, at the beginning of the meeting, commented on the recent statement issued by the US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, about not considering what is happening in Afrin and the occupied areas as a process of demographic change, as well as on what was confirmed by the co-chair of the Department of External Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Badran Ciya Kurd.

Maenza agreed with what Badran Kurd affirmed, saying, "Certainly it is a demographic change, and Badran Kurd is right in his words. It is terrible what Turkey is doing of demographic change by bringing other immigrants from other regions to areas that are originally Kurdish, and they seize the homes of Kurds, Christians and Yazidis."

Miller is wrong

Nadine emphasized that these actions violate international laws, and she believed that the US State Department spokesperson was wrong, "Everyone in the US State Department knows that Turkey's goal of occupation and invasion is demographic change."

She pointed out that there are attempts to evade the American side from some points, and to prefer its interests with Turkey over the truth, given the circumstances the United States is facing, seeking to keep Turkey close to America, and blocking the way for it to go to Russia, and there is a real fear of souring the relationship between the two countries.

In this regard, she said, "But what Turkey is doing makes the United States an angry beast. Whoever continues to pressure and cross lines or limits must be held accountable by the United States, before continuing to kill more civilians and cause instability in the region."

"Granting immunity to Turkey means more crimes against civilians"

Nadine regretted that the US State Department continued to grant the necessary approvals for Turkey to continue its military operations in the region, and expected more attacks unless the United States did not lift a finger.

While she noted that if the United States wanted to follow the truth, it must consider the Turkish steps a violation of international law, "it is, in fact, so."

Considering that all these measures or moves that grant Turkey immunity from punishment for all the laws it violates, it paves the way for it to commit more crimes against defenseless civilians.

The United States must act to stop the attacks

During her speech, Nadine hoped that the United States of America would stand up to Turkey to stop these attacks before they occurred, and she also said, "As you know, it is clear that the United States works closely with the Autonomous Administration and there is a relationship between them, when I started as an envoy of the American Commission on International Religious Freedom, the United States "It was not talking with the Autonomous Administration at the beginning, it was only talking with the Syrian Democratic Forces, but now there is a relationship. It lifted the sanctions, provided all kinds of support, and contributed to some reconstruction and stability in the region."

While touching on currents in the US State Department, she said that there is a division between a supporter of AANES and a supporter of allowing Turkey to continue its atrocities in the region.

A report submitted to Congress to undermine the Turkish attacks

Nadine continued her speech by pointing out that on August 3, the United States Inspector General submitted a report to Congress, in which he criticized the United States government for allowing attacks using Turkish drones, in addition to other attacks in the regions of North and East Syria.

She also noted that the report included a recommendation to stop the Turkish attacks for two reasons. They:

The Turkish attacks are stopping the Syrian Democratic Forces from intervening in the fight against ISIS.

Destabilizing the region and terrorizing its inhabitants.

In the conclusion of her speech, the head of the International Commission for Freedom of Religious Affairs and a researcher at the American Wilson Center, Nadine Maenza, explained that Turkey's actions are not in the interest of the United States, and of course they are not in the interest of the people of North and East Syria.
