Developments indicate that normalization between the Damascus government and the Turkish occupation is going through a state of stagnation, especially after the success of the president of the occupying power in the elections, which means that he was using this track and what it includes of the return of Syrian refugees through coordination with the Damascus government as a winning card in the elections.

The return of the Turkish occupation state to efforts to progress in this path of normalization increased after talking about the rapprochement between Turkey and the Western powers, especially after the recent NATO summit and Ankara's flexibility towards Sweden's accession to the alliance in return for making promises to Turkey to allow its accession to the European Union, and this is what caused a kind of contradiction in interests between Turkey and Russia.

These developments allowed the Turkish occupation state to go far and back down from previous allegations about the possibility of withdrawing from the Syrian lands, as a source close to the Turkish occupation government confirmed a few days ago in an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the issue of withdrawal from the Syrian lands occupied by his country is completely out of the question and a red line for the Turkish state.

This Turkish prevarication sends a decisive message to all Syrian parties that have hopes that Turkey can give up its colonial ambitions in Syria, foremost among these parties is the Damascus government, which always talks about the unity of the Syrian lands and the need for the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation from the Syrian lands. The last of these positions was at the top of the hierarchy of power in the Damascus government, Bashar al-Assad, who, in an interview with Sky News, attacked Turkey and Erdogan.

Despite the public position of the Damascus government and the positions of some Syrian parties rejecting the Turkish occupation, these positions have not been manifested into actual steps, and the policies of these parties continue to help Turkey achieve its ambitions.

Turkey wants to legitimize its occupation of the Syrian territories

The Syrian politician and head of the Syria First Party, Salman Shabib, spoke about this, saying: "Since the Russian efforts began more than a year ago, which were later accompanied by Iranian efforts to normalize the relationship between Syria and Turkey, which led to holding a number of joint meetings at the level of defense and foreign ministers. Syria clearly declared its position and announced it repeatedly, and the president personally stated it from Moscow, during his recent visit to Russia, and his summary is that the normalization of the relationship inevitably passes through two conditions: the withdrawal of the Turkish army from the Syrian lands it occupies and the cessation of support for terrorist groups.

He added, "All Russian pressures have failed to make a serious breakthrough in the normalization process, because it is clear that what Turkey wants is free normalization, that is, without anything in return. Or, as the Syrian president said in his interview with Sky News Arabia, it wants Syria to legitimize its occupation of the Syrian land."

Shabib explained: "In short, Erdogan wants to establish a fait accompli for his occupation of large areas, cities and towns in Syria as a step towards achieving his declared ambitions in the Syrian land and at the expense of the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian state."

A large settlement scheme to perpetuate the occupation

He pointed out: "The Turkish insistence on continuing to occupy the Syrian land and the continuous settlement measures that it is taking to Turkification these Syrian cities and towns by displacing their people and linking them to the Turkish infrastructure, and taking millions of Syrian citizens hostage and putting them at the service of its aggressive projects and ambitions, which poses the greatest danger to The unity of Syria, its sovereignty and its future, and Erdogan and all his gang that governs Turkey, during the period following the recent Turkish elections, revealed his goals and ambitions and announced that he will not withdraw from the Syrian lands he occupies, but rather plans to occupy more lands, and he is currently implementing a large settlement scheme funded by Qatar in northern Syria and linking it to Turkey and its agendas inside Syria, and it will not stop its support and sponsorship of terrorist groups, especially Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which has become working in full coordination with the Turkish intelligence and army.

Turkey will not leave except through coercion and with the participation of all Syrians

He added, "Since the occupation of Afrin, we have had a special reading of the Turkish position that it is an occupation operation that comes within the framework of a plan and clear and declared ambitions to revive the new Ottoman Empire, and that all efforts to normalize the Turkish relationship with Syria within the current circumstances and givens are doomed to failure."

The Syrian politician stressed that: "The allegations of the Turkish occupation of the Syrian land were never, as the false Turkish narrative says, as a result of a threat to Turkish national security, and it was certainly not in response to the Syrians' calls or protection for them. It is an occupation that exploited the conditions of the crisis to achieve greed and plans, and therefore it is inconceivable for Turkey to back down and give up these ambitions easily, unless it is forced to do so.

Shabib pointed out: "The path to this national goal, which concerns all Syrians, inevitably passes through Syria's restoration of its strength and the unity of its people through a comprehensive national project that results from reconciliation and dialogue, and its basis, in our opinion, is the success of the dialogue between the government and the Autonomous Administration and the forces formed from it, and the thwarting of all Erdogan's plans and maneuvers; To set off a Syrian-Syrian fight between the army and the SDF, and this satanic goal of Erdogan was the essence of his maneuvering and deception, which he practiced for a long time under the title of normalization with Syria.
