100 sick cases reach the hospitals in Hasakah daily

The Turkish occupation state has cut off water from the city of Hasakah and its environs since its occupation of the city of Serêkaniyê in 2019, as the Alouk station is the main and only source of drinking water in the city and the camps in it, which are "Al-Hawl, Serêkaniyê, WashoKani and Al-Arisha camps."

The people of the city resort to several sources to obtain water, the first of which are the tanks of the Water Directorate, the tanks that operate freely in the city, in addition to the wells that have been drilled, which are considered unfit for drinking and use due to their salinity.

As a result of the large number of sources of access to water, the people of Al-Hasakah city are exposed to sick cases on a daily basis (diarrhea, poisoning, skin diseases, and vomiting, which pose a threat to kidney patients).

In this context, Ahmed Farhan, the general supervisor of the ambulance department at the People's Hospital, revealed: "More than 100 cases of poisoning and skin diseases arrive at the People's Hospital on a daily basis, due to the polluted water in the city of Hasakah."

Ahmed Farhan noted that cutting off the water has a great impact on hospitals as well. Because they are in great need of sterile water and are good to use for kidney patients.

The general supervisor of the ambulance department at People's Hospital appealed to international and humanitarian organizations to find quick solutions for the city's water, or to neutralize the Alouk station.
