People of Qamishlo,Kobani recall July 14 martyrs

On the 41st anniversary of the hunger strike until death on July 14, 1982, various commemorative events and activities are organized in NE Syria.

The Martyrs' Families Council in Gîl Agha district organized a memorial ceremony in the cultural center located in the center of the district.

The memorial ceremony for the martyrs of July 14 resistance was attended by the people of Gîl Agha district and its villages, members of civil institutions and councils, the Council of Martyrs' Families, the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement, the Young Women's Union and Kongra Star.

After observing a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party Fuad Saadoun, recalled all the martyrs of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement in the spirit of the martyrs of the July 14 resistance.

Saadoun indicated in his speech that: "Prisons have turned into a main arena of resistance against the fascism of the Turkish state after the announcement of the hunger strike operation that was launched on July 14, 1982 in Amed prison in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) by the member of the Central Committee of the PKK Muhammad Khairy Dormoush, Kamal Pir, Ali Cicek and Akif Yilmaz.

Saadoun praised the resistance shown by the activists in prisons despite all the heinous practices and crimes committed against them, stressing, "This resistance has become a path and a concept for victory."

He pledged to follow the path of the July 14 fighters, and to take the resistance as a way to confront the genocide approach that is marching against peoples yearning for freedom.

In the same context, another remembrance was organized in the city of Dêrik by the Martyrs' Families Council, at the Dijla Center for Culture and Art.

After standing for a minute of silence, a member of Nubar who explained that the July 14 resistance spread the concept of free will and struggle until victory was achieved, stressing, "The July 19 revolution in Rojava, NE Syria, and the struggle of oppressed peoples for freedom is considered an extension of the resistance of Amed prison July 14." ".

The two remembrances ended with chanting slogans glorifying the martyrs, "The martyrs are immortal."

The people of Al-Jalabiya district in Kobani canton also recalled the resistance through a lecture by the member of the Democratic Union Party's Organizing Committee, Abd al-Rahman Sheikh Khalaf.

Sheikh Khalaf stressed that the people of NE Syria live thanks to the resistance of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the sake of the freedom of their people, citing the first martyrs in the Kurdistan liberation movement, such as "Muhammad Khair Dormoush, Kamal Pir, Akif Yilmaz, Ali Cicek."

He indicated that the resistance of July 14 has great value because it constituted a victory for the humane and democratic thought that was founded and set its first lines by the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and makes every person who believes in this free thought and the yoke a thorn in the face of every occupier and usurper.

The lecture ended with chanting slogans saluting and glorifying the martyr.
