​​​​​​​Victims' families of al-Bu shams massacre want to prosecute ISIS mercenaries severely 

With the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announcing its willingness to prosecute ISIS mercenaries, with the absence of an international response to the establishment of international courts in the region, the decision was greatly welcomed by the people of the region, especially the families of the victims who died in the crimes committed by ISIS against the areas it controlled.

During their control of several areas in Syria, ISIS mercenaries committed many massacres against the people, and one of the horrific massacres committed by ISIS was the al-Bu Shams massacre, which killed 33 citizens, including women and children, and the martyr Hana Al-Saqr, who became a symbol of women in the region.

The massacre took place on the 19th of May 2017, in the village of Jazrat al-Bu Shams in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, when ISIS mercenaries stormed the village from the side of Jazrat al-Shati, shooting live bullets at children, women, the elderly and everyone they encountered in the houses and streets of the village.

Muhammad al-Khalaf, the father of the martyr Osama al-Khalaf, who was martyred in the massacre, told ANHA's agency the details of the massacre committed by ISIS, and said, "On Friday, May 19, 2017, ISIS mercenaries entered our village after we left the Friday prayer, and committed a massacre against the villagers."

He stressed the need to prosecute ISIS mercenaries for the crimes and massacres they committed in the region, and to impose the most severe penalties against them.

And the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria approved on the 10th of July, "that it will start presenting the foreign ISIS members detained by it to open, fair and transparent trials," and stated that: "The court will be in accordance with international and domestic laws on terrorism, and in a way that preserves human rights." Plaintiffs are victims and their family members.

The wife of the martyr, Muhammad al-Hassan, Asma al-Abdullah, said, "On that day, the area was witnessing a dust storm, and after Friday prayers, ISIS mercenaries entered our village and started shooting randomly at us, and they kidnapped my husband and two of his brothers and their father and took them to a place outside the village, after that we heard The sound of gunfire, and after the mercenaries left the village, we searched for them, only to find them killed two days later in a water ferry."

At the end of her speech, she demanded that the most severe penalties be imposed against ISIS mercenaries, and that their trial be before everyone's eyes and that they be held accountable as soon as possible.

More than 19,000 ISIS mercenaries, who come from more than 60 countries, are being held in North and East Syria. Until now, these countries ignore the return of their nationals who joined the ranks of ISIS, and the Autonomous Administration bears their burdens alone.
