Conference on Religions and Beliefs: Implementing Autonomous Administration secures peace for Syrians

This came during a speech delivered by the Deputy Co-Presidency of the General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Yasser Suleiman, at the Second International Conference on Religions and Beliefs, which started its work a short while ago, in the city of Hasaka.

Al-Suleiman called for peace by mentioning the hadiths of the prophets Muhammad and Jesus, and saluted, on behalf of the Autonomous Administration, the religious institutions, those in charge of the Second International Conference, and the people of NE  Syria.

He pointed to the peaceful coexistence between religions, nationalities and peoples in NE Syria, confirmed by the Autonomous Administration's social contract, and noted the importance of peoples' brotherhood, which turned the region into an example of coexistence.

He stressed that following the model of the Autonomous Administration and applying it in the rest of the Syrian lands, secures peace for the Syrians in general and ends their suffering.

After that, the co-chair of the Democratic Islam Conference, Dalal Khalil, read the assessments of leader Abdullah Ocalan about religions and beliefs.

"The focused on the fact that “the compulsions of secularism with a modern mask, and the compulsions of new religious tendencies (both radical and moderate) that claim to have been launched in the name of Sharia, are not two opposing currents as is believed. They cannot play a moral and political role, as they are a conciliatory ideological derivation from liberalism. Falling into such traps, it is important to adopt an approach that represents the democratic content in religion and the relatively free worldly elements in secularism.

Both elements can only play their role within the restructuring of democratic modernity. It is necessary to learn how not to take sides with the games and conflicts that have been taking place between them for a century, as much as knowing how to empty the fragile endeavors of religion and morality, emptying them of their content, and attaching them to themselves again on the basis of the interests of modernity.

In the meantime, the Second International Conference of Religions and Beliefs is being held, under the auspices of the Mesopotamia Forum of Religions and Beliefs in NE Syria, with the participation of more than 300 personalities, under the title "By the brotherhood of religions we advance human values", and it is scheduled to continue for two consecutive days.
