Water Directorate: Turkey has turned city of Hasaka into disaster area

On Monday, the Water Directorate in Hasaka canton made a statement to the public opinion regarding cutting off water from the Alouk station to the city and its towns, in which it confirmed that Turkey had turned the city into a disaster area.

The statement read by the co-chair of the directorate, Issa Younes, in front of its center in al-Aziziyah neighborhood in Hasaka in the presence of representatives of the Autonomous Administration institutions of NE Syria.

The statement indicated: "Cities and villages without water. One can hardly believe such words. How can a civilized world claim to protect the rights of all beings and accept the existence of cities without water?"

The statement explained: “There is no fresh water or bitter water, only thirst prevails in the place, and manifestations of suffering in all its details. One searches for water by various means and is forced to accept it from any source that fulls of various bacteria and germs, but it has become so difficult that some homes do not even have access to that polluted water.”

The statement noted: "From this place, we announce to everyone that Hasaka, Tal Tamr and their villages, and the camps of Washo Kani and Serêkaniyê are stricken areas where life is almost non-existent except with great difficulty, and we do not have many options, we must find solutions with collaboration of official bodies and humanitarian organizations to stave off the consequences of this terrible crisis.”

The statement added: "The continuation of this real disaster is the result of the agreement of the two countries, Russia and Turkey, and the blessing of the Syrian regime to stifle our people and annihilate their democratic experience.

The statement emphasized: “There are people who suffer from thirst in all its meanings, and with them every living thing that needs water from birds and trees, and there is a tyrannical state (Turkey) that occupies the sources of our water and prevents its access to the needy, does not care about the sick and children, all of this is under the sight of the world order.
