Şengali woman wants to participate in attending ISIS trial

In the largest genocide that took place in the 21st century, committed by ISIS mercenaries against the Yazidis during their attack on August 3, 2014, the judiciary witnessed a setback at the moment the Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Iraqi forces abandoned it.

The Yazidis were left exposed to genocide, massacres, killings, slaughter and kidnapping. At that time, they found only the fighters of the People's and Women's Protection Units and the People’s Defense Forces, who rushed to support their people, to rid them of the oppression of ISIS.

The mother, Suri Khalaf, narrates some details about the tragedy that was committed against them. Before preparing the meeting, the mother raised a picture of her two sons (Khalaf and Suleiman), who are registered as missing, and the fate of the two young men is still unknown after 9 years of genocide.

As one of the witnesses narrates, this tortured mother is waiting on the doorstep of her house, her eyes shining brightly, anticipating the return of her two sons (Khalaf and Suleiman) to her arms and to the house one day, but she is far away, and her heart breaks with pain and anguish for what the war stole from her.

As a witness to the victims and as a mother of missing persons whose fate is unknown, the mother, Suri Khalaf, would like to participate in the trial sessions of ISIS mercenaries, which will soon be held on the lands of North and East Syria, by the Autonomous Administration.

Nevertheless, the details of those moments are unforgettable, still stuck in the imagination of this mother.

On June 10, the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria AANES acknowledged that "it will start presenting ISIS foreigners detained by it to open, fair and transparent trials," and stated that: "The court will be in accordance with international and local laws on terrorism, and in a way that preserves the rights of plaintiffs, victims, individuals and their families.”

According to official statistics, ISIS mercenaries kidnapped 6,417 Yazidis of both gender , 3,562 of whom were liberated from different regions of Iraq, Syria and Turkey, while more than 2,700 Yazidis are still missing, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The mother, Suri Khalaf, recalls some details: "It was two o'clock in the morning when ISIS mercenaries attacked the village (Siba Sheikh Khader). We resisted until dawn, and we took the children out."

The mother, Suri, carried her infant daughter and went out with her children, saying: "Each of us went in a direction to save himself. Each person wanted to save himself and his children without paying attention to the others."

The family members parted from each other, and took three paths to reach the Şengal Mountains, until they finally meet there, according to what the Syrian mother said. However, two of her sons have lost contact since then, and she does not know any details about them since their history, and she says with a prevailing accent. Grief: "I don't know if they were slaughtered or kidnapped or lost their lives in the open and thirsty."

The mother, Suri, explains the extent of the injustice to which the Yazidis were subjected during that period

  "beheading our children and separated them from their bodies, kidnapped and abused women with their children, and forced minor girls under the age of 9 to marry them by force and against their will."

The mother, Suri, points out the massacres that befell the other components at the hands of ISIS mercenaries, "This firman was not only committed against us, all peoples were affected. They abused the residents of Tal Afar and Mosul as well, but what the Yazidis were subjected to was very terrible."

Suri’s mother believes that some forces misinterpret the end of the ISIS era, saying: "We do not have any information about the fate of our children and women, ISIS has not ended yet, they are still moving, their danger still exists, and today Turkey has assumed the reins and tasks of ISIS, and has always our lands are being bombed."

In another detail about what the Syrian mother witnessed, she said about these crimes and atrocities: "They (ISIS) kidnapped our children and slaughtered the young men and women. They burned the elderly in the place for making bread."

She emphasized Turkey's support for ISIS mercenaries, citing Turkey's recent allegations of "liberating Yazidis", wondering: "6 Yazidi women were recently liberated while they were inside Turkish territory. Mercenaries would have forced them to marry them forcibly, had it not been ISIS is in Turkey, what do these women do there?”

And she stressed her intention to participate in the special courts in prosecuting ISIS mercenaries, "We will participate in the court as victims and tell what happened to us, and we will give them the numbers of victims and missing persons. The fate of our children and women is still unknown. These (ISIS) cut the children's meat and gave it to women as dinner during their kidnapping." Which religion allowed this matter?! All religions forbid this heinous act.”
