IDPs of Serêkaniyê calling for disclosure of the missing people' fate

Last Thursday, June 29, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to form an “independent institution” in order to reveal the fate of thousands of missing persons over the past 12 years in Syria. In this regard, the Committee for the IDPs of Serêkaniyê issued a statement, that reads:

The statement reads: "We, in the Committee for the IDPs from Serêkaniyê we welcome this UN resolution after a long wait, to reveal the fate of thousands of missing persons in Syria, and hundreds of defenseless civilians, who disappeared during and after the Turkish aggression, as a result of a series of military operations carried out by the Turkish state, with the participation of some terrorist organizations, in many areas in Syria (Serekaniye / Afrin / Girê Spî) and other occupied areas, as well as those who disappeared under the terror of ISIS, which committed the most heinous massacres.

The statement also called on the United Nations General Assembly, to break its silence "which extended throughout the years of the crisis, and deal with clear seriousness and impartiality with this humanitarian file without politicizing it as in the past, in order to satisfy some of the parties involved in bloodshed, and put pressure on the Turkish state in particular, and its Security and military forces, to reveal the fate of the missing and detainees, after it took them to unknown place years ago, without any legal excuses, and to work to make way for the newly formed institution to clarify their fate and the charges against them".

In its statement, the Committee of the IDPs of Serêkaniyê called on the General Assembly of the United Nations and the Security Council to adopt more important resolution that affects the fate of the Syrian citizen, the necessity of the withdrawal of the Turkish state and its branches of terrorist organizations from Syrian territory, in order to find a solution to the Syrian crisis, and implement the UN resolutions, and facilitating the safe return of the forcibly displaced to their homes without terrorism and occupation".
