Internal Security Forces reveal the outcome of their work to combat drugs during the year

Members of the Internal Security Forces, the Social Justice Council, the Health Committee of the Raqqa Civil Council, and representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria participated in the press conference.

The Deputy of the co-chairmanship of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Hamdan Al-Abed, delivered a speech during the press conference, in which he said: "All love and peace to the souls of our martyrs who sacrificed their blood so that we could live in peace, and today, on the occasion of the International Day against Drugs, we see this scene in front of you, it is the scourge of the era and you suffered from it our regions are in all of North and East Syria, and after the end of ISIS, a dangerous disease appeared, which is drugs that come to our regions through the Turkish occupation, which wants to strike the stability of the region.

Hamdan al-Abed called on the people of North and East Syria to cooperate with the Internal Security Forces and eradicate this scourge.

A speech was delivered on behalf of the Social Justice Commission by Hassan Al-Ahmad, a member of the Social Justice Council in Raqqa, who in turn called on "every citizen to do his role and help those affected by this scourge. We, in the justice institutions, worked on the anti-drug law, in which the penalties were tightened to reduce this phenomenon." He also thanked the Internal Security and Drug Control Forces for their efforts in combating this dangerous scourge.

This was followed by reading the statement of the Internal Security Forces, which was read by Brigadier General Ali Al-Hassan, in which it stated:

"We gather today on the International Day against Drugs, which has become a major regional and international problem and dilemma and constitutes a threat to the social, moral and economic reality of all countries of the world.

The statement added: "And we in the regions of North and East Syria also suffer from this threat, especially since the enemies of our people and our society are working to introduce drugs in a large way as a kind of special war to target all groups of society, young and old, in an attempt to weaken our regions and strike security and stability." Because drugs and their spread lead to the destruction of the cultural and social structure of the family and society and increase the rate of crime and violence.

The statement noted, "We are in the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria, and in order to confront the scourge of drugs, we have established a special security apparatus concerned with drug control on 6-26-2022. Today, with the first anniversary of its establishment on the same international day concerned with combating this scourge, our forces have intensified their efforts and its work using the capabilities available to us to pursue criminal networks and weak souls who work to smuggle, promote and traffic drugs. Our forces also worked to enhance work in educating our people about the effects of drugs through seminars and events with the participation of the concerned bodies and institutions.

The statement pointed out, "Our forces in the General Department for Drug Control have employed all their energies to limit the spread of drugs, and with the support of many concerned departments within the Internal Security Forces, they have been able to arrest a large number of those involved in trafficking and promoting this scourge, and seizing huge quantities of narcotics. The number of files that were worked on by the General Administration for Drug Control during a full year reached 522 files, and all those involved in these files were arrested, and their number reached 6 dealers of large quantities of narcotic substances, 1,042 promoters, and 2,068 users.
