K.Star discusses repercussions of  political changes on the region

As part of the series of meetings that it launched in Qamishlo canton on June 11, Kongra Star held a meeting today in Tel Hamis district, attended by dozens of women and members of civil institutions in the district.

The meeting was held in the hall of the Cultural Center in Tal Hamis district, began with the attendees observing a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs. Then, the Kongra Star coordinator member, Walida Bouti, touched on the political developments on the local and regional arenas, and indicated that NE Syria is going through a "fateful stage."

Bouti commented on the Russian-Turkish relations, saying: "The rapprochement between the Russian and Turkish sides is not in the interest of the Syrian people, but rather serves their interests."

She talked about the continuous attacks of the Turkish occupation state against the regions of NE Syria, and its efforts to revive the "Ottoman Empire", and said: "Not only in Syria, but in Iraq and Libya, where Turkey uses the pretext of fighting terrorism, and it is considered the first sponsor of terrorism," referring to Turkish role in supporting ISIS and its sleeper cells in the region.

Walida Bouti praised the will of the people of NE Syria and their steadfastness in the face of all attacks targeting their will.

While the member of the Kongra Star Coordination, Ramzia Muhammad, spoke about the role of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) in fighting ISIS mercenaries, and added: "Women managed to fight ISIS and regained their role in organizing society and building it properly."

She also noted the changes that occurred in the situation of women in Tel Hamis district after its liberation from ISIS mercenaries, as they became alert to the special methods of war targeting them under the name of customs and traditions.

After completing the speeches, the obstacles facing women and ways to avoid them were discussed, as the participants stressed on "intensifying training courses in order to raise women's awareness and self-management, and break the masculine mentality."
