AANES calls on Russia, Global Coalition, Damascus Gov. to take firm decision on Turkish attacks

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement regarding the recent Turkish attacks on a number of areas in north and east Syria, which resulted in deaths and injuries among civilians and military forces.

The text of the statement read:

"Amidst the apparent complexity of the Syrian crisis and with the regional and international developments that have an impact on the Syrian interior; also in conjunction with the efforts to search for a solution and a way out for the Syrian situation and attempts to reach a new stage, the Turkish aggression and its unjustified attacks are escalating again in light of what happened and is happening inside Turkey and what followed." It is from the post-election stage.

Today, openly and clearly, we saw an expanded Turkish attack by marches on the areas of al-Shahba and Manbij, as new targets of its kind in the west of the Euphrates, and it left many martyrs and wounded from the Manbij Military Council and the People’s, Women’s and Protection Units, Civilians in Aleppo, and its continuation at a greater pace in the east of the Euphrates, and its targeting today of civilian cars in the east of the Euphrates Qamishlo, which also left direct casualties among civilians, and all these attacks come in one context, which is a clear expression of the Turkish mood that yearns for destruction, aggression and escalation towards our regions and against our people, and an unbridled Turkish desire to continue the genocide and work to open several fronts, especially with Erdogan’s arrogance and the start of his new term after the elections .

Without a doubt, these attacks are escalating at a time when there is increasing talk about the continuation of the quadripartite meetings, the development of road maps for action, and the creation of new security mechanisms between the two parties (Turkish-Syrian). These developments and the situation create many question marks before us, including what is related to the possibility of new understandings between Turkey and other parties. Against us, and this in itself is a great danger, which will make us all face new, very bad possibilities in Syria and the region, which we do not prefer for it to be.

While we extend our sincere condolences to our people and the families of the martyrs of the Turkish aggression today on all our regions, and we wish a speedy recovery for the wounded, we strongly condemn this escalation and the Turkish aggression, and we stress the need for the International Coalition, Russia, and the Syrian regime to clarify their positions regarding this escalation, and they are required to work on putting pressure on The Turkish side to reduce these attacks that push the region towards tension and escalation.

We, in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, affirm our full commitment to protecting our people and defending our regions within the framework of defense and legitimate protection.

Our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs and to our people in North and East Syria.”
