AANES to begin trial of foreign ISIS mercenaries

On June 10, AANES decided, through a statement to start submitting the foreign ISIS mercenaries detained by it to open, fair and transparent trials in accordance with international and domestic laws on terrorism, and in a way that preserves the rights of the plaintiffs, victims and their family members.

 "All ISIS mercenaries who are in detention centers in NE Syria will be tried, and their number exceeds thousands," the co-chair of the Media Department in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Jiwan Mulla Ibrahim told ANHA agency.

Mulla Ibrahim revealed that the mercenaries who will be prosecuted are from nearly 60 countries around the world."

Mulla Ibrahim explained, "The courts will be organized through the People's Defense Court and the Social Justice Council."

Mulla Ibrahim indicated that the meetings are continuing between the Social Justice Council and the People's Defense Court to prepare serial regulations for the courts that will be organized in NE Syria to try ISIS mercenaries.

Concering the date and place of their trial, Mulla Ibrahim noted: "In the next few days, the trial sessions will start, and there will be a statement by the Autonomous Administration about its location and time."

The media can attend and cover the trial sessions that reflects  AANES's efforts to show the facts as they are."

Mulla Ibrahim confirmed that the families of the victims of ISIS mercenaries can attend the trial sessions.

According to Jiwan Mulla Ibrahim, ISIS mercenaries will be tried according to the laws of NE Syria, in addition to the terrorism law and related laws in international forums and the international community in general.

Mulla Ibrahim noted: "The Autonomous Administration took this decision after inaction of the countries that have citizens among the ranks of ISIS mercenaries in detention centers towards AANES's appeals to return them."

"Our appeal continues to countries that want to receive their nationals, and we are ready to provide all facilities in this regard," Jiwan Mulla Ibrahim affirmed.
