Noun’s initiative decries new decision in imposing isolation against leader

In the context of the statements condemning the decision to extend the ban on meeting leader Abdullah Ocalan for an additional six months, the Noon Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom issued a written statement to the public opinion, a copy of which we received.

At the outset of the statement, it came: "Soon, the results of the recent Turkish elections were revealed, which brought Erdogan back to power, to coincide with that return to the organized approach of persecuting the Kurds, and tightening restrictions on them again."

It added, "This was embodied in the production of a new episode in the international conspiracy series that began a quarter of a century ago against the militant leader and thinker Abdullah Ocalan, the symbol of the Kurdish cause and the caller for women's freedom and the consolidation of their position in society under democracy and peaceful coexistence."

In its statement, the initiative mentioned the Turkish authorities' decision to extend the "disciplinary sanctions" against the leader Abdullah Ocalan for an additional 6 months, stating that "according to this decision, a new era of strict isolation is imposed on the leader, which includes a ban on meeting his family and his lawyer, which means concealing all Information relating to the commander and his well-being, whether from a physical or psychological point of view.

The initiative expressed its absolute rejection of "this isolation", as well as its rejection "totally and in detail of the decision of the Turkish authorities to extend it for a new period, based on the illegality of these penalties that do not fall within the framework of international law, not to mention that they are an explicit violation of the rules of international law and international covenants of human rights." Which recognizes the rights of political prisoners, and any infringement or violation of these rights entails a legal responsibility for the transgressor state that cannot be evaded.

Noting that "the Turkish state is determined to deafen its ears and turn a blind eye to these laws and disregard them."

The Noun Initiative for Ocalan's Freedom called on people aspiring for freedom and peace-loving, international forces and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to "support the freedom of leader Ocalan, reject these sanctions, and demand an end to the inhumane and illegal isolation imposed on him."

It denounced "the international silence towards the leader's issue and the issues of the Kurdish community," and said: "We renew our pledge to the leader to continue the struggle to defend his physical freedom, and we affirm that we are fully convinced that no right is lost behind him and that there is no alternative to the struggle for the leader's freedom."
