The Media Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) issued a statement to the public, in which it revealed the outcome of its battles during the month of May, with the Turkish occupation army, in which it reads:

The Kurdistan Freedom Fighters, who are the legitimate defense force of the Kurdish people and their free will, waged an unparalleled resistance against the occupation army so that our oppressed people would have a future with its culture, language and glorious history, and our fighters fight to make their bodies a shield against all kinds of attacks, in a guerrilla way and defend every inch of the territory of Kurdistan with great will, our forces responded to the occupation attacks launched by the tyrannical Turkish army with unparalleled resistance, after the February 6, 2023 earthquake that occurred in Maraş, our forces announced that it would act in accordance with the leadership's decision to stop military operations, and acted on this basis for about 4 months, and according to despite this decision taken to heal our people's wounds from the earthquake on a humanitarian basis, the fascist regime of the Justice and Development Party, the Nationalist Movement Movement and the Turkish occupation army led by Hulusi Akar, continued their attacks, where the Turkish occupation army bombed all the areas of the Kurdistan freedom fighters, especially the areas of legitimate defense, with warplanes, attack helicopters, cannons, mortars, tanks and bombs, and committed war crimes by bombing the trenches of the resistance with chemical weapons and prohibited bombs, and the fascist Turkish army took advantage of all kinds of opportunities technique throughout the month of May, especially in northern Kurdistan, and carried out large-scale operations with the participation of hundreds of soldiers.

The Kurdistan freedom fighters defended themselves, despite all the attacks, and responded to these attacks in self-defense and as a result, violent clashes broke out, and the Turkish occupation army, which wanted to achieve results using all the technical means available to it, but couldn't break the resistance of our forces.

The Kurdistan freedom fighters, who resisted with the spirit of martyrs of May, starting from Haqi Qarar to Khalil Jav Gunan, which continued from Amed prison to the resistance of the 4 comrades and the artist Mazgin, against the occupiers in every region of northern Kurdista to the areas of legitimate defense.  

And they prevented the occupation and the invaders from advancing the path of struggle and escalating its pace, as our comrades resisted with a spirit of sacrifice against the tyrants who wanted to eliminate Kurdistan’s freedom guerrillas in northern Kurdistan, and on the path of the martyrs of the month of May, they provided the necessary response to the enemy in Merdin, Amed and Botan.

The Turkish occupation army, which was powerless against the resistance of the Kurdistan freedom fighters, committed war crimes by bombing the trenches of the resistance 8 times with chemical weapons and banned bombs throughout the month of May. The trenches of the resistance in the legitimate defense areas were bombed 126 times with warplanes, 11 times with helicopters and 435 times with mortars, cannons, tanks and heavy weapons, and violent clashes broke out during the attacks launched by the enemy, killing 54 Turkish soldiers and injuring 2 others, and 13 of our comrades rose to the rank of martyrdom.

The Guerrilla forces, which represent the determination for a decent life and a free future for our people, dealt severe blows to the enemy by making great sacrifices, as the struggle of Leyla Sorkheen showed the world once again that the hope for freedom in Kurdistan can never be destroyed. Our comrades Bahoz Çia, Dilgeş Zagros, and Bawer Korkmaz and Dilsher Çia Resh, Bawer Med, Rangber Gevara, and Sherker Çav , with a commando spirit against the tyrants and occupiers, and rose to the rank of martyrdom. Agid Zilan, Vian Ozgur, Diyar Khoshnaf, Botan Zagros, Bawer Zaza and Cansher Adar also joined the convoy of martyrs in the legitimate defense areas.
