YRJ: Free Press is Voice of Free and Democratic Life

On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Kurdish Press Day, the Women's Media Union (YRJ) issued a statement to the public, congratulating all journalists who sacrificed their lives to protect the truth, especially women journalists and all those working in the free press.

The statement pointed out that the free press went through very important stages of struggle in the history of Kurdistan, and this struggle coincided with the resistance of the Kurdish people who fought for their existence from genocide, where the free press waged an unparalleled struggle against the culture of genocide, occupation and sexual intolerance and played a decisive role in the struggle against the dominant and fascist forces that did not take into account the culture and identity of the Kurdish people.

YRJ stressed that showing the fact that women lead this struggle through their organization will be one of its basic duties for life, in the face of the attacks of the dominant and patriarchal powers that want to hide this tangible fact.

 "Despite all the repression, attacks, and arrests." However, a free media has become a source of spreading the truth around the world," the statement concluded.
