AANES: Moscow Quadripartite Meeting is waste of time, losing bet

The Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations, Badran Çia Kurd made a written statement to the media on the official position of the Autonomous Administration about the recent meetings in Moscow and the policy of normalization between the Turkish and Syrian regimes.

The statement read:

"The policy of normalization with the Syrian regime has been witnessing a regional and Arab movement, where the goals of normalization differ from one country to another according to political, security, and economic priority of each government."

Çia Kurd explained that "the recent quadripartite meeting in Moscow between the representatives of the countries Russia - Iran - Turkey - Syria comes in a preliminary context to raise the level of diplomatic relations between the Turkish and Syrian regimes and discuss files which concern the internal Turkish affairs in relentless attempts to support Erdogan and his government."

In other words, the meeting is a continuation of the Astana's meetings, but with participation of Damascus government instead of Pro-Turkish armed groups.

Çia Kurd added, "The Syrian crisis has an international dimension, and bilateral or tripartite meetings cannot determine the basic features of the final political solution, as the Syrian decision is absent."

He pointed out, "In the absence of clear principles and criteria for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian situation by the two communities, any consensus in such meetings will lead to the political legitimization of the Turkish occupation, in addition to setting false targets by Turkey and involving others to fight it, As happened in targeting the Autonomous Administration in any meeting in which Turkey participates, and this is another attempt to push Syria towards a bloodier internal war."

Çia Kurd called on all parties to be careful not to be drawn into dangerous Turkish plots.

Çia Kurd made the point clear that, such suspicious meetings cannot bring about a political solution which guarantees the rights of all Syrians on the contrary it will complicate the existing reality through the destructive and negative role played by Turkey towards Syria for decades.

"Turkey cannot turn overnight into a factor of stability, and solution due to its continuation and insistence on its occupation projects and the endless support of terrorists who commit massacres against our people in mercenaries-held areas."

Normalization must be in accordance with international law

Çia Kurd said, "We with calls for a complete Turkish withdrawal from Syrian territory. Therefore, any process of reconciliation and normalization must take place in accordance with international law and the standards governing relations between states. Otherwise, it would be legitimization of the occupation."

He continued the circumstances are not ready for such talks under the occupation, that why it is more appropriate for the Syrian regime to turn inward and open the doors of real dialogue with all Syrian factions, as this would be a step towards ending the occupation and chaos."

Badran Çia Kurd said that the status quo in Syria won't be as it was before 2011, as all Syrians aspire to a future that guarantees their lives and rights."

He stressed, "It is very important for Syria to be an active country and engaged with the regional and global environment, however it needs to overcome the internal crisis, by drawing a new political life for the country and removing the causes that led to what we are today, and setting guarantees and creating conditions for the return of all Syrians to their areas.

No normalization without the consent of the Syrians

Badran Çia Kurd concluded by saying, " Any normalization process not based on all Syrians positions or a comprehensive political process, will be tantamount to returning conflict and prolonging the life of the Syrian crisis for more decades, and this will have serious repercussions and undesirable results."
