Campaign to collect signatures unites people demanding physical freedom of Ocalan

 On Monday, March 13, the People's Initiative for North and East Syria announced the participation of two million and 626,828 people in the campaign to collect signatures, which was launched on January 22, demanding an end to the strict isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the realization of his physical freedom.

 The voices united

 The spokesperson for the Popular Initiative for North and East Syria, Perwin Youssef, appreciated the efforts of the people of the region and the institutions that participated in the campaign responsibly, rejecting the policies practiced against peoples in the person of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and lifting the strict isolation as soon as possible.

 She indicated that the campaign, which lasted for a month at the level of northern and eastern Syria, was attended by all the components of the region, in addition to the participation of the people of Rojava who are in Hawler and Sulaymaniyah in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan) through the office of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), and in Aleppo, Damascus and Beirut. 

 She confirmed that the goal of all participants in the campaign is;  It is the physical freedom of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and the unification of their voices and their delivery to the Committee Against Torture (CPT) to carry out its duty regarding what the leader is exposed to.

 Momentum participation

 Regarding the reasons for extending the period specified for the campaign from February 18 to March 13, Perwin explained, "The campaign to collect signatures coincided with the (Together for Humanity) campaign launched by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Jazira region to help those affected by the earthquake, so the campaign was extended despite the pressure it faced."  Our committees to run the two campaigns together, however, made strenuous efforts to collect the largest number of signatures.

 She explained that the strict isolation continues to this day, and said: "Therefore, we must raise the pace of our struggle in all arenas to break the international silence and achieve the leader's physical freedom."

 She noted that they handed over the document of signatures demanding the physical freedom of the leader to the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

 Direct delivery of the document

 Regarding the mechanism for sending the signature document to the Committee against Torture, the spokesman for the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Farzanda Munther, explained, "We seek to send this document through the Al-Asr Human Rights Office in order to hand it over to the concerned authorities directly."

In turn, Munther indicated that the effective participation of the people of northern and eastern Syria in the campaign confirms the extent of their connection to the thought of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and his insistence on the democratic struggle, and said: "Therefore, it is necessary for the European Committee against Torture to fulfill its duty regarding the demands and will of this people, to visit Imrali urgently."  .

 Munther drew attention to the impact of this campaign on the legal and diplomatic side regarding the file of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and explained: "Collecting this number of signatures in a democratic country has a valuable position, and not responding to it to satisfy political interests, especially the interests of those who practice genocide policies against peoples."
