Restarting work of Tishreen Dam and generates electricity

Rojava Dam (Tishreen) returns to work after a week it was stopped due to the shortage of water that come from the Turkish occupation state, to supply the regions of NE Syria with minimal electrical energy.

The dam administration told ANHA agency: "The Tishreen Dam will be operated today, starting at 1:00 p.m., and supplying the cities of north and east Syria with a minimum amount of electrical energy."

The administration explained that this program is valid until the beginning of Ramadan, unless there is a change in the water supply from the Turkish side.

While it indicated that they would stop the work of the dam for one day only, on the 17th of March.

The work of the Tishreen Dam will depend on the amount of water supplied from the Euphrates River coming from the Turkish occupation state, but according to the current situation, the hours of electricity supply to the region will be less than it was before stopping the dam.

The administration said in a previous statement to ANHA agency, "The priority of the General Administration of Dams is to secure drinking water and irrigation water for agricultural lands."

Turkey releases less than 200 cubic meters per second from the Euphrates River water to the Syrian territories, in contrast to the agreement signed between Damascus and Ankara in 1987, which stipulates that Syria must obtain at least 500 cubic meters per second.
