1,2 million for searching damaged houses in Lattakia

 Citizens affected by the earthquake in Lattakia, whom they described as the concerned authorities, whether the municipalities or the Engineers Syndicate, demanded a reduction in the fees for issuing reports related to revealing the condition of the cracked or damaged house and identifying the houses that need to be strengthened or repaired, and taking into account the difficult material conditions that everyone is going through, according to Al-Watan newspaper , close to the Damascus government.

 Citizens stated that those affected by the cost of restoration or consolidation, which has become a real burden on any family, should be compensated, especially those with limited incomes, wondering how to secure millions of sums for the restoration or consolidation of their homes?

 The fee for issuing an engineering report from the Engineers Syndicate in Lattakia amounts to 1.2 million Syrian pounds for each report, which exceeds the ability of citizens who are already living in difficult conditions following the devastating earthquake and whose homes were damaged as a result.

In the context, the "head of the Jableh City Council" in the Damascus government, Ahmed Qandil, justified that the municipality does not ask any citizen to apply for any financial sums or fees for restoration, while the wholesale and construction block reports are exclusively from the Engineers Syndicate.

 The Engineers Syndicate in Lattakia, in the Damascus government, according to Zainab al-Khair, head of the Engineering Offices Division, acknowledged that “as a syndicate branch, we can only act in accordance with the law, and we are waiting for a specific party or the central syndicate to adopt lifting this burden on citizens,” as she put it.

 It is noteworthy that the "Engineering Offices Division" is the division responsible for approving the required engineering reports  to put damaged homes.

 And according to a circular issued the day before yesterday, to the heads of local councils regarding the procedures for restoring buildings damaged by the earthquake, stressing that it is not permissible to carry out any restoration or consolidation works for any building without obtaining an expert report certified by the Engineers Syndicate branch showing the construction status of the damaged buildings, with engineering supervision and a warning against concealing any cracks or fissures.
