The Democratic Autonomous Administration Council and the Martyrs' Families Foundation in Shengal issued a written statement regarding the earthquake that struck northern Kurdistan and NE Syria, in which it called on the Yazidi community to help the families of the earthquake' victims

The statement stated, "The Kurdish people and friends of the Yazidis are going through painful days, and we offer condolences to the families of the victims and the Kurdish people, our people suffered from a catastrophe and we are going through difficult and painful days. On behalf of the people of Shengal, we express our condolences to all our people, and we wish recovery to all the wounded, and we call on the entire Yazidi community everywhere, our friends and everyone to help the earthquake' victims according to their capabilities."
