German parliament officially recognizes Yazidis’ genocide

German Parliament officially recognized the majority of votes of the genocide that the Yazidis were subjected to during the attacks of ISIS mercenaries on Şengal district in 2014.

On Thursday, the German parliament met to vote on officially recognizing the genocide that the Yazidi people were subjected to as a result of the attacks of ISIS mercenaries. to conclude by officially recognizing the genocide by a majority of votes; This brings the number of countries officially recognized by 12 countries.

The parliament meeting was also attended by some Yazidi personalities and people who were liberated from ISIS mercenaries. After the official recognition of the Yazidi genocide, members of Parliament applauded this recognition.

ISIS mercenaries had attacked the Yazidis in Şengal on August 3, 2014, which resulted in the death of 5,000 Yazidis after the occupation of Şengal. Because of the failure of the KDP forces and the Iraqi army to protect the area, the Yazidis were subjected to heinous massacres, and many Yazidi women and children are still kept at ISIS capture, and many mass graves have not been found yet.
