Gunmen assassinate Mursal Nabizada in Kabul

Afghan media announced the assassination of the former member of the Afghan parliament, Mursal Nabizada, as a result of an armed attack targeting her home in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

According to what was reported by these media, on Sunday, one of Nabizada s’ bodyguards was killed, while her brother was injured.

It is noteworthy that Mursal Nabizada is one of the women who refused to leave Afghanistan despite the threats they faced after the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in mid-August 2021.

Immediately after receiving the verdict, the Taliban issued unfair rulings against women, excluding them from most public jobs, or giving them low wages to urge them to stay at home. They also prevented them from traveling without a man from the family, and they must wear a burqa or a headscarf when leaving the house (Islamic Clothes).

And in November 2022, the movement banned women from going to parks, gardens, gyms, and public swimming pools.

Women's demonstrations against these measures, which rarely gather more than forty people, have become fraught with danger, and many women have been arrested, while journalists face increasing difficulties in covering these events.
