​​​​​​​Susan Shuman: Guerrilla represents the line of defence for all peoples of the Middle East

Arab and foreign reactions denouncing the use of Turkish occupation of chemical weapons against the Guerrilla forces are escalating.

17 Guerrilla fighters have been martyred by Turkish occupation’s chemical weapons in Kurdistan Mountains during September and October, in which the People’s Defence Center had stated.

War crime and flagrant violation of humanity

The Lebanese Human Rights activist, the spokesperson for the "Noon Initiative for the Freedom of Ocalan", Susan Shuman, spoke about this: "The use of chemical weapons is a war crime and a crime against humanity, and the use, storage and transfer of such weapons is internationally prohibited, in particular by the Organization for the Prohibition of International Chemical Weapons (OPCW), of which Turkey is a member of the Conference of States Parties, and is therefore bound to implement the requirements of the International Convention for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Furthermore, the use of chemical weapons is also clearly prohibited in the Charter of the United Nations and the Geneva Conventions ".

"On behalf of the Noon Initiative, we decry these attacks, which are genocidal in meaning where they are a flagrant and egregious violation of humanity."

Attacks reflect dire situation inside Turkey

"These attacks undoubtedly reflect dire situation inside Turkey which seek to delude its people by fake victory, but what happens on the ground refutes its lies, it faces drastic resistance by Guerrilla fighters.

"The Turkish state exercises a policy of suppression of freedoms and arrests all those who claim their liberty and that of their people. This war is aimed not only at the Kurdish people but also at all those who support freedom of expression and the right to self-determination. The attacks on legitimate defence zones are undoubtedly another policy for the Turkish Government to save face with public opinion within Turkey and to influence the upcoming elections.”

"Despite successive Turkish occupation attacks of all kinds of heavy and sophisticated weapons and the use of chemical weapons, it has not been able to achieve its goal of eliminating the Kurdistan freedom movement, as these attacks are met with fierce resistance that upholds its right to exist, identity and language.

Guerrilla represents the first line to defend the whole people in Mid-east

The Lebanese activist addressed a message to the peoples of the region, saying: "The fighters of the People's Defence Forces (HPG), or Guerrilla, constitute not only a line of defence for the Kurdish people but also for all peoples of the Middle East threatened by Turkish and Western ambitions. They are fighting bravely; They never give up. They are thwarting attempts all the landing operations of the Turkish occupation army though successful sniping operations and preventing it from advancing.

The people of the region are now required to unite to confront this the old hegemony or at least support this valiant resistance in international forums to spread the brutality of the attacks by the Turkish Government internationally."

The use of this weapon puts all peoples at sustainable risk

"Since mid-April, the Turkish occupying state has used chemical weapons dozens of times on the territory of Southern Kurdistan, war crimes committed by the Turkish state have been published in the report of the Association of International Doctors for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) last week, and this has been proven again by images of fighters affected by chemical weapons in recent days published by the Furat news agency (ANF), but despite numerous documents and appeals from civil organizations, OPCW (OPCW), which are relevant institutions in the international arena, remain silent.”

"The latest statement, instead of the Chemical Weapons Organization, was made by the German government, where it came from German Foreign Ministry adviser Katya Kiol, who said we were familiar with the report of the International Doctors' Association for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) and the Turkish Defence Minister's statements on the use of tear gas for a long time, but we don't have other information from government sources."
