In numbers.. outcome of Turkish occupation crimes over past 3 years in occupied Serêkaniyê, Girê Spî

With the start of the campaign of the Serekaniyê Displaced Persons Committee today in northern and eastern Syria, under the slogan "Safe return is a legitimate right", the committee revealed the statistics of the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries in the Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad canton, which came in cooperation with support association for victims.

The unfolding the statistic came during a statement read by Joan Esao, the official of the relations of the Serekaniyê Displaced Committee, following the press conference held in the "Washo Kani" camp of the displaced from the Serêkaniyê district, west of the city of Hasaka.

The statistic stated: "Since the occupation of the two areas in October 2019, and up to three years ago, 511 cases of arrest have been documented, including 68 women and 42 children, and at least 185 people were forcibly disappeared. There are 325 cases of torture, at least 5 people  of them, lost their lives under torture. 92 detainees were transferred to Turkey, of whom 48 have been sentenced so far to sentences ranging from 13 years to life imprisonment.

 Regarding the murders, the statistic revealed that "56 people were killed, including 4 women, and 11 people were executed on the ground."

 On the forced displacement, the statistics indicated that "more than 85% of the residents of Serêkaniyê did not return to their homes after its occupation, and that 2,500 displaced families from other Syrian regions were settled in the homes of the forcibly displaced, and that 55 families of women and children of Iraqi ISIS mercenaries, were settled in the homes of the forcibly displaced whose properties were seized within Serêkaniyê."

The statistic also showed that the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries seized the property of citizens in the Serêkaniyê area and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad canton, after their occupation, "more than 5,500 residential homes, more than 1,200 stores, emptying 55 villages of their original residents, more than a million  dunams (100,000 hectares) of agricultural land.

 The statistic indicated the lack of security and stability in the occupied Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî/Tal Abyad “the Spring of Peace region witnessed at least 72 explosions, which killed: 145 civilians, including women and children, more than 300 wounded, and 46 cases of infighting/clash between the “National Army” factions  as a result, at least 3 civilians were killed, and more than 25 others were wounded.

 In its conclusion, the statistic confirmed that what is being committed in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spi / Tel Abyad, occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries, is much more than what is documented and verified, "as we confirm that the actual volume of violations is greater than the numbers mentioned in this statistic."
