Shamon: Turkish rapprochement with Damascus gov aims to prevent transition to democratic system

The deputy co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Gabriel Shimon, considered that the Turkish goal of rapprochement with the Damascus government is to block the path to any democratic transformation in Syria.

Hitting the democratic autonomous-administration project in north and east Syria is considered the first goal of the Turkish occupation state in Syria, as it considers it a threat to its capitalist project and a danger to its plans in the region in general, and recently it began to approach the Damascus government in order to normalize relations between the two countries.

The Vice-President of the Joint Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Gabriel Shimon, told our agency, "Since the beginning of the declaration of the Autonomous Administration project in 2014, the Turkish occupation state began carrying out projects to strike this project through the formation of the radical factions of the Free Army, Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS, which collected all these factions and organized them in order to combat the project of democratic autonomous-administration.

He indicated, "All these attempts failed, forcing the Turkish occupation to land its forces on the ground and attack the areas of northern and eastern Syria, and began occupying Afrin and then Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad, but the ambitions of the Turkish occupation continued and attempts continue until now."

He explained, "Turkey is still communicating with Iran and Russia in order to complete its project at the expense of the Syrian territories, but this project was not approved, but rather an undeclared approval was taken to use drones and flights to target the region and strike the security and stability of the region."

Gabriel Shimon noted, "Since the beginning of 2011, there have been common interests between the Syrian and Turkish government, but the Turkish positions have been turned upside down. There are Turkish interests that are superior to the interests of the opposition and the demands of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy."

He noted, "The Turkish occupation state's rapprochement with the Damascus government is very dangerous, and aims to strike the administration project and the revolutionary movement, and added, "The people's demands for freedom, dignity and democracy continue, and this consensus hits any future democratic project, and any political transformation can restore the regime's legitimacy on the region, and thus the dreams of all Syrians for freedom and dignity come to an end.

At the conclusion of his speech, Gabriel Shimon confirmed that the Autonomous Administration categorically rejects such a rapprochement because it is not in the interest of the Syrian people, and aims to strike the Autonomous Administration project and any project that contributes to the political solution and the transition to a democratic system that serves the interests of all Syrians.
