​​​​​​​ Dirar responds to Erdogan's recent statements regarding his rapprochement with Damascus

 The co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Riad Dirar, said in a post on his Facebook page, "Mr. Erdogan: You say your goal was not to defeat the Assad regime, but to fight terrorism in northern Syria and east of the Euphrates, and this is not true."

 He continued: "You have interviewed representatives of the Democratic Union Party to follow your goals and betray the Syrian state, and they refused. Therefore, you bear this outrageous and unjustified hatred against them, and you are accusing them of knowing their falsity and illogicality."

 "You did not take responsibility for the Syrian crisis and you were not part of the solution, and your goal was not regional peace, as you claim, and you are the ones who received terrorism for years. You contributed to the dangerous threats to yourselves by fueling the fire of the crisis in Syria under the illusion that there is a revolution. You thwarted it through your maneuvers, which were manifested today in your statements toward the Assad regime."

 He added: "Therefore, your last statement, Mr. Erdogan: (We must ensure that we move forward with advanced steps with Syria by taking steps that will disrupt a number of plots in this region of the Islamic world with our neighbors) is meaningless. You are only required to respect the neighborhood with Syria and stop the terror rallies that you send. The people of northern and eastern Syria will extend the hand of peace with you if you wish.

 The recent statements of the head of the Turkish occupation state, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, came amid Turkish hints of normalizing relations with the Damascus government, following the Sochi meeting that brought Erdogan together with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the Syrian file was one of the main axes of the meeting.

 Erdogan revealed that during the Sochi talks, Putin offered him a "solution" of the crisis, in cooperation with the Damascus government, and said: "Putin told him that the solution to the Syrian crisis would be better in cooperation with the Damascus government."

 Meanwhile, there was talk in the political center about Russian-Turkish efforts to revive and amend the "Adana" agreement concluded between the Damascus government and the Turkish occupation in 1998, with the aim of striking the Autonomous Administration in northeastern Syria, and pushing it to surrender to the Damascus government.
