​​​​​​​Revolutionary People`s War: Communes complete preparations

The General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria declared a state of emergency on July 6, in light of the relentless threats and attacks by the Turkish occupation against the region.

In the declaration, the council called on all commitees, councils and institutions of AANES along with the civilian population to make preparations in accordance to the threats and attacks from the Turkish occupation. The people and all other institutions in North East Syria answered this call and are well on with their preparations.

The communes in North East Syria which are main ways of organizing in the region, included 10 comittees before the state of emergency was announced. Due to the state of emergency, all commune members have organized themselves into 3 main committees(defense, service and health)

FROM ONE TO 5 PEOPLE FROM EACH FAMILY HAS JOINED THE DEFENSE COMMITTEES`

Regarding the topic, we visited the Martyr Yasir joint commune center which is compromised of 4 communes in Zeytouniye and Qidourbek neighborhoods: Martyr Botan Commune, Martyr Anwer Commune, Martyr Khalid Commune and Martyr Warshin commune. The mentioned communes serves and works for 475 families.

Members of the Martyr Yasir joint commune house, spoke to ANHA rgarding their work and preparations in light of the state of emergency. Defense comittee member Seda Ali said: “ Since the beginning, we have been creating the defense committees on the basis of protecting the citizens our neighborhood. When there was fighting against ISIS at the Sina`a prison in Hassakeh, we were awake day and night protecting our neighborhood.”

Seda Ali pointed out that they will protect their neighborhoods with all their strength against attacks from the Turkish occupation. She continued: “ Uptil 5 people from each family participate in the defense commitees.”

`WE HAVE PREPARED WATER WELLS AND POWER GENERATORS`

Service Committee member Khawla Jouma said: “In all the neighbourhoods connected to Martyr Yasir`s joint commune center, we have prepared 30 water wells along with piwer generators for running the wells. We have asked the people to share and distribute food and other necessities for their families”

Health Committee member Firyal Khalaf pointed out that there is beeing held first-aid courses in order to being able to handle accute situations.

In the courses, the people learned to treat gunshot wounds and also to treat injuries sustained from chemical weeapons. This is because, as we know, the Turkish occupation state used chemical weapons against the people in Afrin, Serekaniye and Gire Spi.

Firyal Khalaf said: “Everyone mus act occording to their level of knowledge and the state of emergency. Those with experience from the medical field must be prepared to assist their people in a time of need.”

Khalaf also pointed out that the health committees are ready to receive and treat casualties.

`119 UNDERGROUND SHELTERS, INCLUDING 3 HEALTH STATIONS PREPARED

Co-chair of the Martyr Yasir joint commune center, Ridwan Rashid stated:“ Our commitees are taking on their responsibilites in light of the state of emergency. Our people support us. Food has been prepared. 119 underground shelters, including 3 health stations, have been prepared for the protection of the people.

Rashid pointed out that more than 32 refugee families from Aleppo and its countryside also live alongside the other families from the neighborhood.

This is only one example of the 34 commune centers in Qamishlo city. The other commune centers also organize and prepare themselves in the same way. According to Qamishlo City Council, there are a total of 105 communes in the city.
