Iraqi security expert warns of Turkey's plan to occupy areas in Iraq

And the security expert Ali al-Wa'eli said in a statement to Alma'aloma Agency, "Ankara is seeking to intensify its military operations in the regions of northern Iraq during the coming period, under the pretext of fighting PKK elements, while PKK elements have been present for years in northern regions, but the scheme aims to occupy areas large numbers of Iraq under the pretext that those areas belonged to Ottoman occupation."

He added, "Ankara plans to create a conflict area in Iraqi-Syrian-Turkish border triangle, to make it a terrorist presence area for the elements supported by it, with the aim of eliminating Kurdistan Workers' Party and at the same time occupying those areas by its terrorism."

And he indicated that "Iraqi government may be oblivious to such schemes, as the continuation of silence will lead to re-activation of terrorism in areas far from the aforementioned triangle with the aim of moving the security forces towards hot spots."

Since last April 17, Turkish occupation army has launched large-scale attacks on southern Kurdistan with the participation of Kurdistan Democratic Party, as the attacks began after a visit by the President of Southern Kurdistan Government, Masrour Barzani to Turkey on 15th of last April, and he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the intelligence head Hakan Fidan.
