Darrar: Participants in consultative meeting in Stockholm are notables’ figures   

On the 9th and 10th of April, the Syrian Democratic Council organized a consultative meeting in the Swedish capital Stockholm, the second of its kind, in preparation for holding the "Conference of Democratic Forces and Personalities", in which a group of Syrian opposition forces, democratic figures and representatives of the American, British and Swiss foreign affairs participated.

The co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Riad Darrar, told ANHA’s agency that the consultative meeting, which was organized in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, is the second of its kind at the level of Sweden, and the eighth at the European level in order to complete the invitation to the "conference of democratic forces and personalities." He said, "The meeting was organized under the supervision of the International Olive Palm Organization, which is known for its support for the forces of democracy and the forces demanding freedom and peace. We thank this organization."

Riad Darrar indicated that during the consultative meetings, they discuss important issues in the future of a political solution in Syria by preparing appropriate papers for the project they are preparing for, which is to hold a conference at the end. He said, "These workshops are very important. In this workshop, we discussed the issue of the Syrian state and the outstanding problems in it, decentralization and its necessity."

He indicated that during the consultative meeting, they discussed issues of relations between democratic forces and the possibility of bringing these forces together and attracting them to a joint work project, so that they constitute a strong Syrian platform that can face all the challenges in its capacity as democracy. He also noted their discussion about holding a third similar meeting in Stockholm to complete the pressing issues still before them.

The co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Riad Darrar, affirmed that all the participants showed positive attitudes and participated in a real effectiveness and provided their future services to the conference, and said: "There is a good number of attendees, including Dr. Samir Al-Taqi and Dr. Nimrod Suleiman, who work in America and they are known in political work and opposition; Dr. Mohammad Habash, who is known for his reformist and democratic views that complement the democratic spirit of Islam; and the political thinker Ratib Sha’ob, who made valuable interventions, and we can rely on his method and style of dealing with issues, and he has critical views that we can benefit from.

Riad Darrar stressed that all the attendees are of good personalities and have potential and a past in political, opposition and democratic work.

It is noteworthy that this meeting is the second of its kind after the first meeting that was held in Stockholm on December 13-14, 2021.
