Barsoum: Political understanding will consolidate the dialogue between political parties
Sanharib Barsoum believes that the political understanding that was concluded between the Syriac Union and the Assyrian Organization will be an incentive to open dialogue between other parties and blocs. He stressed that the Turkish attack against a civilian car on the Akito feast is a targeting of the Akito and the Assyrian Syriac.

On the first of April, in conjunction with the Babylonian Assyrian New Year celebrations (Akito), the Syriac Union Party and the Assyrian Democratic Organization signed a political understanding document in an effort to unify the political position.
Sanharib Barsoum, the co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, explained to ANHA’s agency that the signing of the document came after a series of meetings held between the Union and the organization in order to reach consensus between them regarding the issues of the Syriac Assyrian people, and with regard to the Syrian situation as a whole.
The political understanding document includes unifying the efforts of the two parties in joint action to recognize the identity and rights of the Syriac-Assyrian people and constitutional recognition of the existence and national identity of the Syriac-Assyrians, and to guarantee their national, political and cultural rights at the national level.
At the national level, it includes several items, on top of which is; The constitutional recognition that Syria is a state of multiple nationalities, cultures and religions, and the Syrian people are made up of Arabs, Kurds, Syriac, Assyrians, Turkmen and others, and the constitution guarantees their national rights. Emphasizing the unity of Syria's land and people, and working to restore its occupied lands by peaceful means and in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. Decentralization is the ideal system in managing the country while preserving the unity of the Syrian territories, to protect national and cultural pluralism, and to ensure the broadest popular participation in the administration, the equitable distribution of power and resources, and the achievement of balanced and sustainable development for all regions in Syria.
The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, Sanharib Barsoum, said that the document is of great importance in terms of unifying "efforts to achieve the demands of our people. The visions are convergent at the national level, and these support our vision in general for the future Syria. In addition, the work of the two parties as a joint team on many issues will be It has positive results to serve the issues of our people, specifically in north and east Syria, and Syria in general."
Sanharib Barsoum stressed that there is no political solution within Syria without unifying the efforts of the Syrian democratic forces, and said: "In this sense, we initiate consensus and hope that there will be consensus at the Syrian level to unite all efforts and bring about the democratic change required for the Syrian people."
He believes that the Assyrian organization is not against the project of AANES, as an ideology, as a local government system, and as part of Syria that will be a federation in the future. He said: "They are with such a regime for the future Syria. They may have certain reservations about the Autonomous Administration, but this does not preclude the fact that the Assyrian Organization or any other party is part of the Autonomous Administration if dialogue interacts with it, and there is consensus for the largest number of political parties. And to be part of this project, which we say is a project for the Syrian people.”
The co-chair of the Syriac Union Party confirms that the real dialogue between the Syrian parties and the understanding within the international framework according to UN Resolution 2,254 will make the difference and the required change. He said, "We are working for our people and for our country, in order to bring about democratic change in Syria, but there may be Syrian parties that do not work for the Syrian people, working for the benefit of regional or international powers and an agenda for the projects of these forces. These are the ones who obstruct the political solution. When The parties that believe in a political solution are united by democratic change and an end to the tragedy of the Syrian people. I think we will reach these consensuses.
Barsoum indicated that the Turkish occupation state's targeting of a civilian car that was destined to participate in the Aktio feast celebration is targeting the Aktio, and the component that wants to express its demands and vision and to defend its people, and said: "Then the Syriac Military Council, located within the Khabur and Tal Tamr area, was targeted. This council is charged with protecting the people of that area. The targeting of the military council is targeting the Syriac-Assyrian presence in the Khabur area and an attempt to cause disruption in the region in preparation for the expansion of the factions linked to it in north and east Syria."
The co-chair of the Syriac Union indicated that the Turkish presence in the region is a factor causing instability in the region, and said: "It threatens the existence of our people. This is not an analysis, but rather it exists on the ground. The occupation of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad led to their evacuation from our people, and in every region there are It includes those factions linked to Turkey.”
