Shingal's survival is linked to strength, determination and organization of Yazidi community

The conspiracy against the Yazidi community is still ongoing by the Turkish occupation state and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, but the people of Shingal are well aware of the size of the conspiracy against them, and the survival of the Yazidi community on its feet so far, is nothing but irrefutable evidence of the determination and will of the Shingal people.

In an effort to eliminate the Yazidi community, with the direct support of the Turkish occupation state, and amid the complicity of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the failure of the Iraqi government, ISIS mercenaries launched, on August 3, 2014, an attack on the Shingal district with the aim of eliminating the Yazidi people, which is one of the oldest peoples in the world.

The attack was planned in advance, led by the Turkish occupation state, which was directing and supporting ISIS financially, logistically and intelligence, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, whose forces fled from  district after the attack, and the Iraqi government, which did not show any position regarding the attack and withdrew its forces.

Following the attack by ISIS mercenaries, the People's Protection Units (YPG) and the women's YPJ intervened in response to the call of the sons of Şengal, and the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and the Free Women's Units-YJA-STAR also intervened. A safe passage was opened between Rojava and Şengal for the evacuation of children, women and the elderly.

After the attack on Şengal, the Yazidi community realized the size of the conspiracy against it, which is to completely eliminate the Yezidis, forming their own protection forces represented by the Şengal Resistance Units YBŞ and the Şengal Women's Units YJŞ, all the way to the establishment of the administration  Şengal's democratic autonomy, organizing themselves through civil, administrative, and organizational institutions;  Politically, the Yazidi Democratic Freedom Party (PADê) was announced.

 Shingal

After the attacks of ISIS mercenaries, the Yazidi community waged an accelerated struggle at various levels. The fighters of the YBŞ Şengal Resistance Units, the Şengal Women's Units YJŞ, the Popular Defense Forces and the HPG/YJA STAR managed to liberate Şengal from the mercenaries on November 13, 2015, and continued to liberate the rest of the areas that had ISIS been occupied it.

After the liberation of Şengal from ISIS, the KDP tried to return to Şengal, not in order to protect the Yazidis, but in order to complete the genocide plan under the directives of the Turkish occupation state, and this was confirmed by a member of the leadership committee of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Murat Karayilan, in a statement to the Yeni newspaper.  Ozgur Politekayê (Yenî Ozgur Polîtîkayê), who said: “After our forces liberated  it and sent the people to Rojava, we asked Mr. Masoud Barzani and Mr. Masrour Barzani through an envoy (Do you already have forces in Shingal..?) They said: “Yes to us.”  Our forces are in Shingal, we are now transferring the people of the area to Rojava, and again they sent their envoy and asked us to help their forces join our forces and return to Shingal, we said yes it is possible, of course our goal was not to go to Shingal alone and fight against ISIS, in fact when we decided to intervene, we wanted to establish direct relations with the Kurdistan Democratic Party, we had a contact, but then they said that they are doing another mission and if they leave this mission, they will understand this thing wrongly.”

Completing the ISIS scheme through malicious attempts

After the failure of the objectives of the ISIS attack on Shingal, and the Yazidi community organizing itself, the conspirators against the Yazidi community continued their plots and completed what ISIS failed to achieve.  Where the Khansur area separating between Rojava and Shingal was attacked, on August 3, 2017, the attack came after a visit by the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Massoud Barzani at the time to Turkey, and at that time, officials of the Turkish occupation state confirmed, on the sidelines of the meeting, that among the issues they discussed with Barzani  the conditions of Mosul and Shingal were.

During the attack on Khansur district, the name of the Roj mercenaries was used, but it was a cover, the main objective of which was to create strife between the sons of Rojava.  However, Those who attacked Khansur, according to the information by the Şengal Resistance Units and the Women's Resistance Unit - Şengal, are: (the Gray Wolves Organization, the Zirvani Forces, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Sarbst militants, the Sunni National Mobilization, the Turkish intelligence and the Peshmerga Roj)

Gray Wolves: is a Turkish far-right organization, considered the unofficial armed arm of the ultranationalist Nationalist Movement Party, which opposes any political settlement with the Kurdish people.  A part of that group is in Bashiqa camp, and they headed to Shingal, after wearing the uniforms of the Kurdistan Democratic Forces.

Al-Zervani Forces: They are forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Aziz Wessi.

 - The militants of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and Sarbst: They are forces of approximately 10,000 members, and they were stationed in Shingal district before the attacks of ISIS mercenaries on the district in mid-2014.

The Sunni National Mobilization: They are groups of Arab Sunni clans in Mosul and its outskirts, which the Turkish occupation forces organized, recruited and trained in Bashiqa camp, under the name of the Sunni National Mobilization.

Turkmen groups: These are groups formed from the Turkmens of Tal Afar, near Şengal, who were recruited by the Turkish intelligence.

٧ Roj Peshmerga: It is an armed military mercenary faction, formed in 2012 under the auspices of Barzani’s party from Rojava, after the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, and received military training by Turkish intelligence in camps in southern Kurdistan.  It is known as the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS), but the Ministry of Peshmerga confirms that these armed groups are not affiliated with it.

 - Turkish intelligence deployed in headquarters in separate areas of southern Kurdistan.

One of the other goals of the attack that targeted Khansour district is to obstruct the battles of the Shingal Resistance Units, the Shingal Resistance Units - Women, and the Popular Defense Forces against ISIS mercenaries of the 200 thousand displaced from Shingal.

As a result of the attack on Khansour district of Shingal district on March 3, 2017, eight fighters were killed, in addition to dozens wounded, as well as journalist Nojian Arhan, who was covering that attack, was martyred.

A video clip was spread documenting how fighters from the Peoples Defense Forces, Chakdar and Orhan, intercepted a military armored vehicle belonging to the attacking gunmen in order to prevent their advance, and then that attacking force killed the two fighters without hesitation.

On April 1, 2018, the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), after completing its mission and fulfilling its duty, announced its withdrawal from Shingal.  However, the Turkish occupation state and the Kurdistan Democratic Party did not stop their series of attacks by warplanes and drones began. According to the information provided by the Democrat to the Turkish intelligence, prominent leaders of the  Shinagl Resistance Units were initially targeted.

The conspiracy continues in another way

The strengthening of the Yazidi community, its organizational, military, and administrative system, did not satisfy the conspiring forces (Turkey and the Kurdistan Democratic Party), who strived to eliminate the Yazidi community, and the KDP forces went to  Shingal only for this purpose, as the Democrat expanded his intelligence network under the guidance of the Turkish intelligence, which began targeting  the leaders and administrators of the Yazidi community through the information provided by the Kurdistan Democratic Party;  On August 15, 2018, the Turkish occupation aircraft targeted the car of a member of the Yazidi Community Coordination Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Kurdistan Community Unions, Mam Zaki  Shingali, while returning from a memorial ceremony for the martyrs of the massacre in the village of Kocho in  Shingal, and he was martyred as a result.

 Extermination with legal cover

After the failure of the Turkish state and the Kurdistan Democratic Party to impose their dictates on the Yazidi community, the Iraqi government headed by Al-Kazemi and the Kurdistan Democratic Party concluded an agreement on Shingal, on October 9, 2020, with the direct support and guidance of the Turkish occupation state, and the main goal is to keep the Yazidi community without any protection or  Administration or will, so the Yazidi people rose up, and considered the agreement another type of genocide, with legal coverage, and stressed that it would not make way for those who left it between the clutches of ISIS mercenaries and caused the genocide of the Yazidi people to return to Shingal.

After the October 9 agreement, the Iraqi army intervened on the line. On April 20, 2021, groups of the Iraqi army tried to enter the village of Tel Zarak, west of Shingal. The people of the area did not allow them to enter their area. The Iraqi army’s attempts were repeated,  While the Yazidi community did not remain idly.

 Targeting Yazidi community leaders

The scheme of the Turkish occupation state and the Kurdistan Democratic Party continued in another dirty way, namely, targeting the leaders of the Yazidi community. On August 16, 2021, the leader of the Shingal Resistance Units Saeed Hussein was martyred, after his car was targeted by a drone of the Turkish occupation state.  Saeed was an outstanding fighter among the Yazidi community and gave his life years ago so that the Yazidi people could gain their freedom.

On December 7, 2021, the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of Khansour Marwan, Badal Khedida, was martyred, after his car was attacked by a Turkish drone.  On December 11, 2021, Turkish planes launched an attack on the People's Assembly in Khansur, causing significant material damage to the building.  And the Kurdistan Democratic media was quick to promote allegations that the bombing targeted a "PKK base."

 Conclusion:

The conspiracy against the Yazidi community is still ongoing by the Turkish occupation state and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, but it changes according to the transitional changes, and the people of  Shingal are well aware of the size of the conspiracy against them, so every time they show a strong reaction stemming from the strength of their administrative, social and military organization.  There is no doubt that the survival of the Yazidi community on its feet so far is irrefutable evidence of the determination and will of the Shingal people, and most importantly, the more Shingal resists, the more he can live in freedom and peace.
