On the night of February 28, 1986, Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme (1927-1986) was murdered and the PKK was accused of killing him without any investigation.

In this context, Mehmet Demir, says: " After killing Palme, there is no solidarity with the Kurds in Germany and Sweden," and explains his point of view, saying:

" Until that day sympathy for PKK was strong in Germany, for example some parliamentarians in the Social Democratic Party (SPD) helping some PKK representatives with asylum applications. They also provided assistance to the Kurds in rallies, meetings and activities, but after Palme's murder, they charged members and supporters of PKK, and calling them guilty before public opinion, German television stations and newspapers were saying that Palme was killed by PKK. At that time, many Kurds, especially Kemal Boracay, accused PKK of committing such a terrorist act.

In subsequent years it was revealed that Palme's killer was a Swedish intelligence operative. But in 1986 the countries of Sweden, Germany and Turkey announced that PKK was behind the incident. After that, they stormed of Kurdish homes and many violations were also committed against the Kurds in Germany and Sweden, especially against members and supporters of PKK.

Olof's killing caused great damage to PKK and Kurdistan case .

We can explain these damages in five points:

* Prime Minister Palme was one of the supporters to solve the Kurdish human rights, national and political problems.

* Activities of PKK were banned in the Scandinavian countries.

*In 1980, many Kurdish writers, journalists and organizations met in Sweden, their relations with PKK deteriorated, where any potential relationship or agreement with PKK was destroyed.

*After Palme, relations of the left forces in Europe with PKK became fragile, due to that propaganda, they convinced that PKK really assassinated Palme.

Mehmet Demir, concluded his speech by saying: "We can say in short that Olof Palme's murder reveals more obstacles to Kurdistan case .
